    Icon5 Towns Help!

    Started a game hours ago in Darthmod, Its now 15 years later (in the game, im not Marty McFly), and not 1 town has emerged. The next one that is set to come is in 24 turns, 22 if i exempt them from tax,

    What dictates how fast towns emerge? I wish they came with a better guide for this game, or in fact any guide!

    And what helps research items faster?

    Hey

    Towns grow and emerge based farms in the region and their level. You have already noticed that excempting a region from tax can effect this rate and one of the best ways to help regional town growth is to lower the tax level on the lower class. you can raise this up one you have researched along the farming line in the industrial techs and build upgrades to your farms.

    Tech speed is helped along by the type of government (absolute monarchy that most people factions start on is the slowest, republic the fastest), the abilities of certain ministers in goverment, the abilities of any gentlemen in your schools and the level of some buildings and indeed your schools themselves.

    It is often better early to try and get several schools across your faction to get a tech lead early particularly in military and farming areas as i suggested.

    Glad to see your using DarthMod Emit! Towns emerge as the regions population increases. The rate of growth determines how quickly that increase (or decrease!) occurs. As The Judge said, exempting a region from taxes removes the tax penalty to population growth, so you're pop grows faster, you develop the town sooner. So decreasing the tax rate, building farms, building fishing ports, and techs will increase that number too.

    Prioritize farms in regions with many towns left. Also build fishing ports, you can demolish them later when you don't need them. Low (or even no) taxes help a great deal. I think troop recruitment is drawn from the population pool, so don't recruit to many troops in regions you want to develop. Make sure your population is happy. Certain technologies will also help the population to grow faster. A major source of immigration in the new world is emigration from the old world. So unhappy people there will increase your new world colonies.
