I'm sure we've all had one, that sweet moment of victory snatched away by some unknown error. It just happened to me. After reading about how to defeat chariots in another thread I decided to do a Britania campaign, as last time I tried I was pretty useless at handling my economy and quickly tanked.
To my suprise, I was making about 5k a turn, had conquered the French territories of Gaul then made peace with them, had several alliances, no wars, and even ended up allied with Gaul.
This was great.
This was dull.
On seeing that SPQR managed to somehow declare war on ALL of my allies, I thought a nice full stack should pay them a visit. Good general, 8 light chariots, a good mix of infantry, and some dogs to bite anyone who runs away. After being chased off by a full stack, I sieged Rome a second time from the Tiber river crossing.
The chariots flanked the ford, and my infantry tore them to pieces (something to do with all those white banners?) At this point, I should mention that the garrison of Rome was a reinforcement and on that nice "win or die" condition for the battle. I could smell the colliseums and aquaducts practically. I had the still beating heart of the Roman empire gripped in my hand.
And just as the last banner turned white it crashes.
CTD.
Seriously. What is that? Some kind of CA joke that gamers don't get? 'cos I'm not laughing.
So, when were you last "robbed" by the evils of CTDs?
