Revamping Spartans
I can handle myself with 3DS Max and Photoshop/the GIMP, but its been a long time since ive used either of them and I wanted to check up on a few things before I install them on to my computer, as chances are it will take several lifetimes for them to finish.
I want to revamp the Spartan Hoplite unit, as currently they are wrapped in a red bath robe, and I feel that this is disrespectful towards their manliness, also I see that they ran out of 'proper' Spartan helmets and had to issue bowls to the more elite units.
Anyway, to the serious aspect.
I am aiming to achieve a look similar to the Spartans in the film '300'. i.e very little clothes, a 'proper' spartan helmet, a crimson cloak and for the shield to have the upside down V on it.
Modelling wise I can manage, as I have recreated several Greek units before, however I'm still a bit confused about texturing, I see this as a major renovation of the model, and I wish to take many different aspects from different units' textures (i.e Armoured Hoplite's helmet and [modified] shield, the general pattern from an Arcani cape, and the exposed muscles from any suitable Barbarian unit and the vambraces and greaves from either a late-era Roman or Greek unit).
The main thing that sticks out to me is the shield, because as I remember the texture file shows a quarter of the shield, and obviously I won't be able to get the V affect by editing a quarter of it. I know its related to unwrapping the model from 3DS Max or something like that, I'm so confused

Re: Revamping Spartans
Just give the unit, in 3DSMax, another shield for which the texture shows half the shield.
Anyway, there are already many re-works of Spartans in the 300 style, so perhaps you could focus your efforts on other units that have not got the same level of attention.

You, my acquaintance.
Are a genius.
May I borrow these excellent models/textures you have so humbly presented before me ?

Re: Revamping Spartans
If you want. However if you make a mod and intend to release it publically you'll have to follow the procedure stated in the release thread..
Of course you could just play the already existing mod.
