Post Marian Legionary armour: the choice is yours!

Ok, as this popped up quite a few times I think it would be good to let the community decide on the issue.

As it stands, we inherited Ferres' legions setup from XGM, meaning that post marius the roman legionaries gets Lorica Segmentata.
When this came up in XGM times, Dime said that he preferred LS coolness to complete accuracy.

Now, as we XC community may have different tastes, here's a choice:

We've got the current setup, with Lorica Segmentata:



Versus an earlier, more accurate Lorica Hamata model:



Note that this is for the standard cohorts rather than Praetorians and Urbans, which will keep the original setup.

So, which version would you like to have in the next major XC release? The choice is yours!

I would say the Lorica Segmentata, not because it's accurate but because it looks cooler and also gives a greater definition between Legionnaire and auxiliary, especially at a quick glance.

I would say that its use seems to have been limited compared to chainmail variants, which i believe were used before and after the segmentata (not nessacarily the same but the main component was the same ie chain) so if a campaign goes well into AD times then it kind of makes sense to use chain, unless of course there was a way to make a second reform but then that would be getting crazy and also the timeframe would be way too long.

Take into account that the earliest findings of segmentata are pretty near the end of our timeframe (9BC) and LS would be kept for the higher tier romans, taking into account that even in its highest use it seemed to be reserved to units not involved in long campaigns or otherwise with better equipment servicing while the standard legionaries mostly kept hamata.

Honestly i wouldn't mind either since they both look cool and i never play as Rome anyway, a good enemy though.

Segmentata - just for the coolnes factor. We get to play with mail clad romans for the first 50 years, so some change is nice. But if only the first cohorts etc keep the segmentata, it also works for me

I voted for the Lorica Hamata, because I like the better accuracy actually think it looks cooler too. More like a soldier than a tin man.

Those are Ferres renderers.
Armour difference between hamata and segmentata is 1 point and even that is debatable...

I choose the Lorica Segmentata. It just gives a more Roman feeling to me then the other one.

I loved the Hamata in RTR 1.9 But my vote goes for the Sagmentata.

If changing the armor still keeps them above 7 armor value, I say
it's a good idea. Praetorians get LS, while others get mail...
I like it.
