Number of General Bodyguard
I know this is probably asked before but it confuses me. I know it has something to do with their traits and such...but I don't see exactly how. I'm playing and my faction leader has 86 troops. I am facing off against two Greek armies atm and their faction HEIR has 101 units and some random family member has 70 units. What is with this? I never have as much as other factions when it comes to bodyguard count.

I belive it has to do with the generals status (faction leader,heir, general) the higher you are the more men you get, and just the quality of the unit. no need to have a unit with good horsemen and plenty of them, that would just make the general an over powered unit to use.

The AI gets bonuses you don't get as the player, that's why.

He's right, thats why i always got like 3 or 4 Medium horsmen + 1 General.Originally Posted by dvk901

Yeah, no matter what faction I play, ever army has a general and 4 more units of cavalry to aid. But thanks for the info. My leader has had a couple more units added as he's won more battles and gained stuff but still doesn't compete. I'm just glad the AI doesn't mass cavalry. Not that it'd matter against my mass phalanx...

You get more bodyguards as you get more influence, and for me getting more chevrons has given me more.

The higher the influence and personal security from traits and ancillaries the higher the bodyguard count for a unit. There's is also the base number of bodyguards for the bodyguard unit as defined in EDU.
