    Icon8 Please Help!

I have had Empire Total War on this machine almost since release. It has always worked fine. I uninstalled it a few months ago due to lack of play. I have since re-installed and now it wont launch correctly. I have a decently equipped machine that has run the game perfectly before. When I launch the game from Steam it opens in a 3/4 window instead of full screen. All I see is the very first title screen with the game name and copyright info then the game stops responding, goes white screen and I get the windows is searching for a solution ( which bears no fruit ). I have installed all windows updates, updated my video card drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times and there is no change. PLEASE someone tell me how to fix this! I love the total war series and have all of them but this is really frustrating! Iam not super computer savvy and don't know what half of this stuff means, but here is my system info:

Yea I wish I was not so Computer impaired. Just a simple minded grunt. Anyway, to even be more cavemanish, I did the first part of the suggestion by typing the appdata and got to the new search window, but I'am a bit lost from there. I typed the CA>ETW>scripts into the search box up top but came up nil.

Ok. Scripts folder deleted. Game now launches from Steam in full screen. I jumped for joy .... for a moment ... but once again it would not proceed past title screen. Goes to not responding and I had to Ctrl Alt Del out of the program. The mouse icon changed to the game arrow but that is all the progress I have achieved. Any other ideas?

Today my cat powered down the pc during Darthmod's ETW. From that point on, ETW and Darthmod wouldn't start. Deleted ETW and reinstalled, repatched.grr. Still didnt work. This thread saved me. Validating files, and script deletion = great tips. Then ETW worked, but darthmod didn't but i knew i was close. Reinstalled darthmod and i'm up and running. Thank you, Thread! PS btw, what is up with my return key not making paragraphs here? I'm never this sloppy in real life.
