Sam is so stalwart, stoic, lovable... How can you not love him?

Do me a favour - Sam is such a muppet. I'm sure in the films that Sam and Frodo were more than just mates, they were so "Oh Sam" , "Oh Frodo"

I voted for Boromir. Was suprised to see him top of the poll so far though. I thought everyone would have voted for Aragorn. The way he is tempted by the ring and then realises his mistake and redeems himself was great. In the films, the scene way Boromir fought by himself against the Uruk-hai to protect Merry and Pippin was the most awe-inspiring scene in all 3 films.

In the books, I thought Boromir was an excellent character. Legolas and Aragorn were way cooler than anything else in the movie. Vigo is a handsome man. But my vote will go to Boromir.

I was always a fan of old men with fighting ability, the ones with knowledge not easily given out. Excellent character, and a rock of hope in times of danger.

Gandalf - for his "bushy eyebrows" and for being "just a wizard"

Chicken Boy: Merry becomes Théoden's swordthain, Pippin goes with Gandalf to Minas Tirith and enters Denethor's service.

Boromir. For being human and showing what the ring can do. Loved the character in the book, and Sean Bean made a really good job in the movies, too.

How can you not pick Gandalf? Wise, mysterious, kick ass.

Boromir, because he kicks some major arse and is probablly the clearest example of corruption that the ring caused within the fellowship.

Why don’t presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?

He was a great example of how The Ring could corrupt even the brightest heart.
