First of all i want to send my thanks to Chivalry dev team, great work even if the Dark Age campaign (which is the thing i'm most interested in right now) is still beta. Last time I have some much fun in Total War game was Viking Invasion so it's really something.
Secondly, I want to apologize for myEnglish - 'I came from the land of the ice and snow' (well, Poland actually but nevertheless...)
I'v started my dark age campaign as Saxons on medium/medium difficulty (I'm not very skillfull player so i figured out that m/m will be equivalent of h/h on vanilla, since all mods seems to be bit harder than original game), and man, those guys looks great, not only looks great but also fights like a friggin' madmans.
And here comes my first problem:
All I needed to unite whole britain under Saxon banner was units i started with - Theings, some Huscarls and of course, Ladies and Gentlemen, Cynges Huscarls - those guys are invincible, I know that they are general bodyguards but they hack everything to pieces even when utterly outnumebered, flanked, attacked from behind and god-knows-what-else. Once, thanks to my superhuman inteligence, I'v managed to lost my general when i charged 3 units of enemy infantry and then geted from behind by heavy cavalry... and guess what, my huscarls still hacked those poor bastards to pieces loosing only few men (and general of course... but he was lazy bastard anyway so no one misses him)
Well, you can say that Huscarls and even Theings are 'elite' units, you can't recruit them everywhere and they are bit expensive so they supposed to be powerful. But problem is that you don't actually need to have many of them, one army made of Theings and Huscarls is enough to conquer most of europe because AI seems to be creating exclusive peasant armies, and killing peastant armies became boring real fast.
Maybe it's all because of m/m difficulty, I will try darkages once again today on vh/vh.
So, thanks again for this great mod and I hope that you guys are still working on Dark Ages campaing cause' it have a chance to be best thing since sliced bread.
I will keep playing DA campaing on different difficulty levels and with different factions and I will try to share my experiences if you are interested in reading it.
