Basically, this morning I just paid for a week long holiday for myself and the missus (check profile picture for us both =D), and I've finally got the flights booked, and insurance covered etc etc. It's gonna be my first holiday without the ma and da =P. The holidays a Nile cruise, and its basically from Luxor to Abu Simbel, and covers most sites en route. It cost me a bloody arm and leg I should say ¬_¬. The main reason we chose Egypt is simply because its a decent compromise between sunshine (to keep the missus happy) and history (to keep myself happy).

Now we come to the point. Basically, as I'm studying to be an ancient historian I have no need of help with Ancient Egyptian culture and historical sights. My question is - are there any significant landmarks or sights to see in that part of Egypt, particularly from the Middle Ages to Napoleon? If anyone has any suggestions or advice, then by all means please share them with me =)
