    Default Reinstalling error

    I am trying to reinstall Medieval 2 total war. At first it said that I had version 1.02 already installed and I should uninstall it before I could install. I figured there was something left in the registry so I went in and dug everything out. Now, unfortunately, I am getting a separate error.

    The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate.

    Did I miss something in the registry? If anyone knows the specific file that would be very helpful.

    Just a quick question - are you running on either Vista or Win7? If so, did you remember to delete the Sega folder in the Roaming Folder in your Appdata folder on your hard drive?

    Then refer to this webpage for the full manual uninstall procedure for M2. If it doesn't work then let us know. Good luck!

    Still not working here...

    I think it may be part of the installshield program, but I have no idea which part to delete.

    From the webpage I linked you to:

    Delete whatever folder applies to your need to manually remove, this will also remove the game from Add/Remove Programs and allow you to re-install should the uninstallation utility fail.

    • Medieval II + 1.003/1.002 patches {C0698BDA-0D29-40EE-8570-A31106DF9AB1}
    This is probably your hangup. Can you find it in the Installshield folder? If so, delete this key and then reboot and reinstall. Good luck!

    Find the Installshield Uninstaller folder and look for the same keys in it.
    The court of last resort is delete the Installshield folder. It's been known to get corrupted, too.

    Alright, worked it out and now I have it installed

    Only problem is patch 1.02 keeps freezing up when I try to install it...

    There could be a lot of explanations for that. Where are you getting the patch from? If you have the Kingdoms disc then you can find the 1.2 patch on that disc. If not, then make sure that you're getting a clean download - shut down all processes aside from your anti-virus and try the download again.

    Good luck!
