    Default Intercept doesn't work....:(

Can someone help me understand this, or am I just being thick?

I've got an army in a fort two squares or so to the west of Gdansk (Poland starting terriotory). Six or seven units. There's an enemy Prussian army moving in from the west to attack Gdansk which is defenseless.

Here's the bit I don't understand. During my turn I choose to not attack (although my army in the wooden fort has enough range) and intercept the Prussian army instead to have a fort battle. However, during the AI turn Prussian army just walks past my fort like it's not even there! Not around it, literally right next to it O.o. I've tried moving my army out of the fort as well and again intercept doesn't happen. What am I doing wrong?

The Prussian army gets to Gdansk of course which only has 4 Citizen units defending it. Another weird thing - my untis from the fort actually show up as reinforcements before the battle but during the battle they never show up! There's no message about them being delayed either.

    What's going on

If you give an attack command to an army (like "march to attack Gdansk"), the intercept mechanism is disabled.
If it weren't (at least in some way), it would be impossible to ever attack an army (you would always be told to "find another route").
In your case, one can only call that a bug IMHO, the disable should only happen for the army/city being attacked.

Why the reinforcements don't arrive, I have no idea.

Perhaps it's linked somehow, perhaps the whole army or area is bugged I don't know? Intercept is disabled for Gdansk just like you say but there's a bloody fort along the way across my enemy's path! It's packed with eight units of blood-thirsty soldiers who for some mysterious reason choose to just sit there and let the enemy walk right past!

I'm still hoping it's not a bug just some intended mechanic I'm not aware of

It's a bug. The intercept options should ALWAYS pop up for the interceptor. It should never be disabled. Having the intercept option for the interceptor would NOT prevent the interceptee from moving around as if he is the only army in the world... he would just get surprised from time to time.

If the would-be interceptee has an object destination (town, city, etc) then interception is disabled no matter how much sense that doesn't make.
