USA overpowered
alright , this is getting really annoying . i took ottomans , formed a line of 3 layers : riflemen - line infantry - grenade launchers , and stayed between trees
now all the american guy does is : advance really close to my line while all my 3 layers open fire at his units , opens fire , my units route after 5 mins battle ( only 2 or 3 units of his route ) and wee im dead
oh cmon CA do something to fix the overpowered americans !!! the US army wasnt anything special before the end of napoleonic wars

Re: USA overpowered
Maybe he flanked you? In which case you did not lose because they are overpowered. Also if he had more Riflemen than you did, he would have killed your skirmishers and picked off your outranged line infantry...What I'm trying to say is I doubt that you lost simply because the US is overpowered

Re: USA overpowered
US is heavily favored because of all the flexibility it gains from the many DLC units it has been showered with, but I really don't think it can field an army that is especially difficult to beat with the right preparations on your part.
I know that whenever I see my enemy take an Ami army to battle, I assume he will be taking the DLC units, plus a fair share of long riflemen. This means his army will be fairly uneven, due to the different stats on each of those DLC units. I would take the time to familiarize yourself with the capabilities of these units so that you can know how to take advantage of each one.
For example, do not engage the Maryland line or Marines in a shoot-out, as they reload very quickly. DO commit your cavalry to the Marines or Legion of the US, as neither of these can form squares. Don't get overly scared by the New York or Delaware line; I treat them as Superior Line infantry and haven't suffered from that approach.
Generally, anybody who plays with all the US DLC units plus some long riflemen is spending alot of money on these units, so they won't be taking a full 20 unit army into battle, and some of the units they do take are on the small side (long riflemen). This means they are susceptible to flanking themselves. You might try taking (if you are the Ottomans) a very large contingent of Janissary Musketeers and Isaralys. I would drop the hand mortar guys, as most players learn to outmaneuver those fairly quickly and they are expensive (and run out of ammo quickly). Instead, take some good, fast cavalry like Sipahis or Mamelukes. Use these to destroy enemy light cav AND circle around behind the American army. Finally, string your Isaralys out as thin as they can get in the center of your line and put your Janissaries on either wing. Then try to get the American to play into the center of your line by putting some cannon behind it to torture them with. If they go for the center, hit their flanks with the Musketeers and don't stop pushing - get into melee if you need to keep the momentum up. It might be a good idea to take grenadiers with you for this - but not hand mortars. The regular grenadiers will do just fine if you micro them, and they fight better and are cheaper.

Re: USA overpowered
One other thing I forgot to mention. As the Ottomans, you should never underestimate the Shaturnal Camel gunners. I know they suck really hard, but they are also cheap and they do one thing very well - repel enemy light cav like dragoons. Because they are camels, they cause fear in enemy cavalry units when in close combat, and because their rifles outrange any other mounted unit's, they can safely get the first shot in any long-distance engagement. Granted, they can't hit for
and there are only 45 of them, but it's a bargain-basement deal and a great way to spend that last 400 in your list when fighting against someone who will likely take some of those elite DLC dragoons that are available to the USA.
