    Default Changing capitals

How do I do this? I'm thinking of making my game harder by playing as England and abandoning GB.

you do this by having your old one conquered.

You can mod the game to switch it I believe, but short of that, no.

Hmm... Well I don't know how to do it in ETW, but by my experiences with RTW, you just need to open a city scroll, then look at the settlement details. and then in the lower left of the scroll there should be a button to allow you to shift your capital to that city.

You can't pick a new capital without losing your old one (at which point a new one is automatically assigned). Remember, each faction has a home theatre (in the case of England, Europe). If you lose your last province in your home theatre you will lose the game. So if you have all the provinces in North America and India as GB, but lose your last European one you are still dead.

Playing as GB if you want a challenge I recommend not completing the mission that will let you take over the 13 colonies. You can also let Scotland and Ireland become independent by encouraging a revolt (I'm not sure if this applies for Scotland too, probably).

Changing your capital isn't in the game because it isn't usefull anymore. In medievall and rome you had unhappines from distance to capital, but that's no more in Empire.

I recommend you do your best to keep your capital. Not only is it often your wealthiest region (with the highest tax rate possible), but also you often can make unique buildings in it. For example the brandenburg gate for prussia in berlin, the winter palace for russia in moscow, etc

If you want me to, I can do a quick modding for it. send me your savegame file and tell me the region you want to be your capital.

Sometimes i wish Istanbul wasn't the ottomans capital, it takes quite awhile to get it up and running and there are always 5 or 6 regions with higher wealth (another port might help - surely Constantinople still had some trade infastructure at this point)

Anatolia would be my choice here but i couldn't say what other capital i would even want to change they all seem okay.
