    Icon5 Recruit cheats

I have played with all the factions up to the vh/vh. Some factions I have played 3 or 4 times . So, while waiting for BC3, a long waiting, I was musing about recruiting foreign elite troops for my faction, just to prove something different . For example, while playing as KoJ I would like to recruit some elephant archers and see the effect on ayyubid infantrymen , or some ERE varangian guard. I would like also to be able to recruit more templar axemen without waiting so many turns and not only in Acre but in every castle. Oh well, I suppose you have understood, I wish to be able to recruit at will any unit I fancy, money permitting.
Is there any possibility? Or the units are locked to the relative factions and their time of recruit is fixed?

Yes, there is a possibility. However, you need to learn how to modify export_descr_units.txt and export_descr_buildings.txt.

To do this, head to the Mod Workshop subforum, then to the Tools, Tutorials, and Resources and then to the Text Editing & Scripting. There, find proper tutorials and read them. You will need to use some coding tools, also.

    Good luck.

Oh my. I was thinking about something easier , like "add_unitname city number of units". Coding is above my intellectual possibilities...

    Other suggestions?

    no,look, create_unit (city name) "(unit ID)" 5 9 3 3 (5 9 3 3, this is unit number, exp, weapon and armour level)
You can see unit ID here>D:\games\Medieval II - Total War - Kingdoms\broken_crescent\data\ui\units\

Thank you vm but... it doesn't works!

I went for my Medieval II Total War directory on C:, then broken_crescent/data/ui/units. Here I found some other folders with faction names. I chose byzantium. There I found #koj_knights_dismounted_templar.tga

But when in the console I typed:
    create_unit Acre "#koj_knights_dismounted_templar" 5 9 3 3
I got only err: unit type not recognised.

    What I got wrong?

You can only use that cheat for your own factions units, if you are playing as KoJ and do
    create_unit Jerusalem "Varangian Guard" 5 9 3 3
Their unit card will look like peasants and on the battle they will look like Polished Tin units...

yes you are right but that it is not so for every unit. Ad example I have been able to recruit, as KoJ, varangians mercenaries and rajput bodyguards elephant archers and they look and act perfectly, bringing havoc to ayyubid infantry . Give me ten varangians mercenary units and five elephant archers ad I will conquer the world!

Why dont u just Press the tilde (~) key IN GAME and enter:

create_unit "settlement or character" "unit ID" "amount (1-5)" "experience (1-9)" "armor (1-3)" "weapon (1-3)"

    Example -
    creat_unit "London" Longbowmen 2 9 3 3
"A very meaningful quote of a outstandingly wise saying from a historicly boundless important person"

Famously, a curse has been attached to opening Timur's tomb. In the year of Timur's death, a sign was carved in Timur's tomb warning that whoever would dare disturb the tomb would bring demons of war onto his land. Gerasimov's expedition opened the tomb on June 19, 1941. Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union by Nazi Germany, began three days later on June 22, 1941. Shortly after Timur's skeleton and that of Ulugh Beg, his grandson, were reinterred with full Islamic burial rites in 1942, the Germans surrendered at Stalingrad.
