SS 6.2 hates me

So after playing SS 6.1 for a while I decided to upgrade and in the process managed to break it completely. I followed the instructions on the post here

And got the one that looked the most logical, but when I start a new campaign I can pick a faction, then hit next for late or early campaign, there is a "next" button on the lower right and I click it but nothing ever happens. I hear the audio from clicking it, but it never advances me to "next".

Try applying that installer instead of the others.

Glad to hear it. Which installer did you initially use for your 6.1 install? The 6.0 to 6.2 Upgrade Patch?

Ok, it seems I am part way there; have been following this (excellent) AAR:

Screen shots and posts from the author indicate he is using 6.2 and the CBUR. I noticed the CBUR is not compatable with 6.2 so I asked in the thread and was told:

The Complete Byzantine Unit Roster (CBUR) Project includes the Mourtati (re: Byz) Archers. They can lay stakes. CBUR is part of the 6.2 patch.

Confusing....I have 6.2 yet my Byz units are still stock.

Ah, ok. Yea the RC/RRC does look like it would not be much fun for me. Although I do like the changed Byz units. Oh well, can't win em all I guess.

I was unsure which installer to use so I uninstalled the entire mod and then took the 6.2 upgrade path. I wanted to make sure I was rid of that RR/RC mod. It's frustrating.
