Default Patrick Fitzgerald: who will he indict?

Well, after two years, it appears (an) indictment(s) will be coming tomorrow sometime. This investigation has been very interesting lately, and I think something significant may happen. Scooter Libby is nearly certain to be indicted in my opinion, Rove a possibility, but more likely Libby and others in Cheney's office. It really is hard to make accurate guesses about what will happen because the investigation has had no leaks. It will be very interesting to see what happens, and I honestly do hope something big happens. I've been watching Hardball with Chris Matthews this hour, and he mentioned the outside possibility that Fitzgerald might bring a case of a massive conspiracy involving deception about WMD in iraq and the pre-war justification. I think this is probably reaching, but there is always the chance something like that could happen.

So, let's all speculate on this now

And do not argue about the issue in here, if you want to argue about Iraq there are other threads, or if its about Wilson, etc. then make a new thread, but this thread is for speculation on what possible indictments will be.

Indict everyone...I would love to see Rummy in an orange prison suit.

In reality I see Libby and Rove to be indicted.

I'm guessing Scooter Libby will be indicted for giving false statements to the grand jury while Rove will not be indicted but will remain under investigation.

It's kinda a sad that some one with such a delightful name like "Scooter" could be indicted for anything.

Newsnight on CNN just reported that the NY times has said Libby will be indicted tomorrow for making false statements, and Rove will not be, but will remain under investigation with a(n) (requested) extension of the grand jury.

I suppose slightly, I won't deny that I wanted to see Rove indicted, but that may still happen. What does definitely dissapoint me though is that there was no indictment on the actual exposure of Plame's status.

As has been conclusively demonstrated there was never a crime committed in the "outing" of Plame in the first case.

Is giving false statements a lesser offense than perjury?

2 counts of perjury 2 counts of false statements so he is facing 30 years if convicted but yeah the point is there is no indictment on whether Plame leaking was a crime. Personally Im glad Rove escapes (atleast for now) if only to **** people off who think he is some foul evil beast, fact is he plays the same game everyone in washington does he is simply better at it and they cant beat him so it annoys them.

Was anyone else really impressed with Fitzgerald's press conference? The whole time I was thinking wow! this guy really has his act together and is doing a wonderful job thus far.

Yes, he's supposedly still under investigation, but why would he be indicted now? Are they suddenly going to find something new after two years...perhaps...just maybe...an actual CRIME somewhere? This thing has been going on for two years, and it seems the whole reason for even doing this, the Valeria Plame BS, didnt turn out to be anything in the first place.

Its ridiculous. Its almost as bad as that idiot up in Austin who kept getting grand juries together until they gave him the result he wanted in the Tom Delay "case."

Also...its very interesting to me when I see comments like:

won't deny that I wanted to see Rove indicted
    and

he will probably be indicted next

This garbage has been all over the news for the last several months as the media positively salivates over the possibility of Rove being indicted. What is it with this guy that has everyone from that side of the political fence so desperate to get rid of him?

The utter hatred for this guy is amazing to me, as I wonder how someone who has only been the "Chief Strategist" for President Bush can even get enough face time to even be very well known. I mean...I see all the hatred for Bush, blaming him for your cat being run over, hurricanes, floods, etc...hes the President..he's automatically well known, so all the freaks are going to blame their problems on him.

    Rove? Its kind of wierd.

Why the dislike? Is it just because he's good at his job (which is kicking the crap out of the Democrats with a candidate who sometimes cant even spit out a complete sentence)? Or is it just because he's associated with President Bush, and anyone whos associated with him is automatically evil and isnt allowed to play the political game?

I heard on the news earlier (I think it was Lou Dobbs' show) that Rove was going to be indicted today, but sometime during the last couple of days, there was some kind of meeting in which Rove may have offered some evidence against someone else, or offered something to get him out of it. And they said that Fitzgerald is currently unsure what to do with Rove. Of course, it could easily be innacurate, but it was not some left-biased person just being hopeful, it was a reporter from some major publication...now that i think, it may have been Fineman from Newsweek. (on hardball, not lou dobbs)

I doubt it from Fitzgerald's press conference it seemed clear that he really couldnt prove or no for sure whether it was done on purpose and if he cant tag that then he really has nothing on Rove since by everything Ive read Rove was truthful in what he said during questioning. That is the keypoint here imo, that Fitzgerald was unable to say it was done on purpose hence all he got out of it was Libby's prejury and obstruction, if anything else is to come out about Rove Id imagine it would be during Libby's trial so really Rove haters probably going to have to accept Rove has escaped any danager

Seriously, if you watched Fitzgerald's press conference and look back at some of his other prosecutions (many chicago democrats, osama, as two examples), you cannot possibly say that he is partisan in any way, without lying your ass off.
