What's with the epilogue? I don't think the Romans would have sold the Numantine survivors into slavery and divided their territory among their allies if their "conscience" was so shocked by the devotion of the Numantines to resist Roman conquest. Sounds like the Spanish production team fell off the objectivity wagon at the end there in an effort to save face, as if the conduct of a war fought during the 2nd century BCE somehow reflects on them.![]()
Well, in that topic, I agree with you. Although is true that roman writers somehow showed some (further) consideration for their irascible foes (celtiberians were not the only ones) something in that epilogue reminds me of the worst in european nationalisms (which, imo, never had nothing of good in it). In fact, I'm glad you've pointed that. But I believe that this movie is quite interesting, and a laudable initiative, even so!
