Suggestions for Campaign/Battle music?

Hi,


Just wanted to ask for any suggestions for music that could be added to to further enhance the playing experience of SS. I've been adding lots of songs/tracks from other games/movies and its definitely breathed more life into an already excellent mod. Doesn't have to be the specific track, just any movie or game or anything wherein the music would fit this game, whether on the campaign map or during battle sequences

I'd like to make sure first with the moderators if thats ok though. Wouldnt wanna cause any copyright arguments or anything of the sort.

Shouldn't be any copyright issues if you already own the CD (or MP3s ) you want to use, or use free music.

I like to put in my own music as well. if you can get your hands on the first medieval total war sound track or Rome total war those are good. there is some good music battle music in movies like 300 and Chronicles of Narnia. also in games like stronghold, knights of honor there is music that fits the medieval atmosphere. and also a very good battle song in my opinion is Globus-Europa, it has lyrics but still good.

Stronghold (the original) has some of the best Northern European campaign music ever. Tracks like Under an Old Tree, Castle Jam, The Maiden, and others set the mood excellently. I have The Battle of Kerak from The Kingdom of Heaven Soundtrack as my main menu music - it starts off low and dramatic, just as the thunder sounds in the distance (after initially loading the game), then it crescendos into the main theme and even further into the chaotic climax - which is silenced by a mournful chorus as the song fades away. Excellent. I also like some of the Assassin's Creed 2 music for the Southern European factions, especially Dream of Venice and Flight Over Venice (1 and 2).

As for battle music, I actually like The Green Horde Rises from the Warhammer 40k - Dawn of War II soundtrack. It has plenty of brass, percussion, and deeper strings (like cellos). The tempo is fast and the music is strangely beautiful, even though its name represents the Greenskins (one of the most feral and destructive alien races in the WAR40k universe). Back in Venice from the AC2 Soundtrack is a good mobilization song; it's upbeat and driving, but not too fast or chaotic like a heavy melee song would be. I'm also trying to create my own battle song, but it's hardly done and I'm constantly disappointed with it. It's unlikely I'll ever finish it ⌐_⌐.

Anyways, those are my suggestions.

I highly recommend bulgarian group ISIHIA (albums "Isihia" and "Orisiya"). Some tracks are great (for example "Chakruk" as prebattle strat music) when play as factions Russia, Lithuania, Byzantium.

From Kingdom of Heaven I have Battle of Kerak for one of my battle sound tracks, Wall Breached under battle tension, and Crusaders under battle mobilization; Ibelin, To Jerusalem, Rise a Knight, Pilgrim Road under Campaign music. From AC 2 I also included Ezio's Family, Flight Over Venice, Florence Tarantella and The Madam under Campaign map music Good luck with your song

Very good, aggressive music and a field full of fighting men - perfect imo.

Plus there is a ton of metal bands singing about the various past ages, you don't have that in other genre. Everybody sings about "love and the beauty of the world, and all the fun you can have" while the world is getting dangerously low on those things, so, metal and similar genre are here to wake people up. Besides, you rarely have songs about wars and the past in genre other than metal, punk or maybe some serious rock. Battle music is something else, it rarely says anything, it's there just for the atmosphere.
