    Default Thermal Shutdowns?

Ok, so as some of you know I recently fixed my desktop by replacing the motherboard and cpu. Before, I had similar shutdown when playing games like ETW and eventually that led to my desktop not working a few months later.

Now, for a week my desktop was working perfectly, until now when I start playing the games 30 min into the game the desktop shuts down, it's the same type of shutting down as before. So I suspect heat build up so I took off the cover but still no result.

I'm thinking about maybe putting a fan next to the open desktop as that could possibly reduce some of the heat or maybe add thermal paste to the cpu, even though I added it just recetnyl.

    PSU problems, maybe?

If it's the exact same problem as before, then it's probably not the newer components.

Make sure to properly wipe off the old paste (use isopropyl alcohol... rubbing alcohol), and don't lay down a thick layer of it. It defeats the point of thermal paste, if you have too much of it.

Why else do they come in such small packages?

Well it's the same type of paste, but I forgot to wipe of the remnants of the old one. Anyway, I just used a card to smoothen the paste on the cpu and got a thin layer. It's been working till now...(knock on wood)
