THIS IS NOT A GRAPHICAL ISSUE.
In large battles, particularly with great numbers of infantry (Darth Mod is a huge problem), while the game does not lag, per-say, any and all actions I do take some time to actually register. Animations slow to a crawl, buttons take as much as a few seconds to understand that I moused over them, etc. Yet I can scroll and pan and rotate the camera all around the map any way I want with no issue.
I'm basically positive this a CPU issue, since Task Manager reported ~80% CPU usage on average during one of these battles, with spikes in the high 90s. That would also explain the symptoms, but what I am wondering, why does it insist on having a separate frame rate for all of these elements, and can I disable it? I would much rather it lag overall than furiously watch my soldiers move at half a frame per second when I am playing the game at 60FPS.
For quick reference:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.01GHz
RAM: 4096MB DDR2 @1066MHz
GPU: NVIDIA GTX470 1248MB
I had this same issue on my old 9600GT, so once again, I highly doubt this is a GPU issue. This happens inside and outside of Darth Mod. If this is some bug, and not just a 'feature' coded in the engine, a way to fix it would also be greatly appreciated.
Attached is the dxdiag.
