Default How to convert Rome to Christianity?

First of all Im new to this Forum and would like to greet everyone. Second I would like to thank IB team for great mods u guys produced especially RR and SAJ which i had been playing for awhile now and I hope u keep doing it for as long as u can and thirdly ill go straight to my question:
Im playing 365 campaign as WRE and it looks like i cant convert Rome (city) to Christianity any longer. I think with Patch 4 i was able to destroy the Pantheon and problem was solved but now after I patched to 5 u cannot do that. I built the highest level of christian basillica and even got the best governor with outstanding christian traits (true zealot) and the city still remains pagan, (no wonder St. Peter got crucified there). So if anyone could point me in a right direction how to get rome christian would be welcome. the city itself is not causing any unrest but it just looks weird being only pagan within WRE.

Well, you've built the christian Basilica and the Catacombs? If so, there's nothing more you can build I think. However, as the city of Rome wasn't made completely christian until the reign of Theodosius, I guess it's historical. Basically, the official religion of a region is worked out by the amount of conversion by buildings (Characters and neighboring regions don't count) and the Pantheon means you can't make the xtian buildings have more conversion than the pagan ones. You should check to see if there's any other buildings you can raze that provide pagan conversion (I think the sewers are one, don't ask why) and you might be able to destroy them. However, I don't know if you can destroy the sewers or not, it might be the same as the pantheon. (BTW I had the same problem with that cathedral in Antioch) Apart from that, there's not much you can do sorry.

Thanks JF, i followed your advice and it didnt work, demolishing sewers wont do anything to increase christian support. I built every possible building from the tree to increase christianity in the city (basillica, catacumbae mortis) and still wasnt enough to offset paganism. the only building left is the hermitage with its upgrades but im unable to build it in Rome as it is triggered by city's religion itself. Anyway, the only thing i can see is possibly tweak the game itself and lower % of pantheons paganism to about 15 or so but im no game expeert and would need someones guidance

Alternatively you could increase the Christian basiclica's conversion rate

I think it's descr_buildings_strat.txt, do a search for conversion, and keep hitting find until you reach the christian bit. there, you'll see conversion percentages. simply change theone you want to change
    REMEMBER: ALWAYS BACKUP!!!
If that doesn't work, I may have told you the wrong file. PM me if this is the case

It did work, I changed the value of paganism from original -2 (-10% paganism) to -5 (-25% paganism) within christian basillica and it was enough to convert the city

Beeing a pagan is more fun. I in my game always construct several pagan temples and christian and arian churches. Make the game more historical because in the late roman empire all that faiths existed not always coexisted well but you could have even a family with diferent beliefs.

i usually like to pick and stick with one religion in the beginning of the game, doesnt matter pagan or not, it keeps the unrest in check. Here my problem was with city of Rome as it was only one immune to conversion into christianity.

I tried once to go for a complete mixture, not ever destroying any religious buildings (As Julian would've wanted) but still trying to support a pagan resurgence. Although in theory, I could have all the religious buildings and Paganism would be in the lead by far, it's hard to deal with the unrest and keep a positive treasury.

Im with u there JF, although rebellions have purpose in the very beginning of the game as they challenge u to the extreme and make u set up proper strategy for empire planning, as the game progesses and u become more settled and poised for further conquest dealing with them becomes annoying. I think most of u remember vanilla bug where u had some cities constantly rebelling even after constructing all available buildings there. I used to run my troops down to spain i think every 30 turns just to wipe out same town over and over again. Thats y i cant be thankful enough to IB team for developing extra unrest controlling structures
