It most definitely works with 1.6a, if it doesn't work for you you're using it wrong.

Forced diplomacy allows you to force another faction to accept your diplomatic offers.

I only ever do it if for example if a nation has only one province left which is surrounded by 6 of my legions with no armies of their own and they reject a ceasfire/protectorate offer, because it is just ridiculous that they would refuse.

I'm still confused, whats so great about Forced Diplomacy? Does a faction, have to ALWAYS accept your terms, or is it just an option in the diplomacy screen?

When you enter diplomacy with a faction you can press a button ( showmehow-button) so that they accept the following deal no matter what. It does not force the AI to always accept your offer, only for that specific deal.

It has to be semi-reasonable terms, though. Even forced diplomacy can't make a faction give you money it doesn't have, for example.

Personally I think I will pass, but why would other people want this then? I mean its down right cheating, doesn't it ruin the game, for people who use it?

Not necessarily. I redirect you back to the example given by General Brittanicus.
