Comments, thoughts? For me personally it was a magnifficent sight, seeing the men of different nations march together. It set a precedent(hopefully to be followed), since from the beginning of the Cold War and even 20 years after its end, never had foreign troops marched on the Red Square. The British and the American especially looked awesome. I wish the US Marines were there.
The hardware parade and flyover were really cool. I enjoyed seeing the T-34 and SU-100; The Topol-M carriers looked menacing and brutish.
The German Kanzlerin Merkel was there as well. I'll leave you with the end of Medvedev's speech. Hopefully it's not just words.
Dear friends, The lessons of World WarII call us to solidarity. The world remains fragile. And we should remember that wars do not start in a flash. The evil gainsits strength if we shrink back or try to ignore it.
Only together can we counteract modern threats. Only based on the principles of good-neighborliness can we resolve issues of global security so that ideals of justice and of the good can triumph in the whole world and life of future generations can be free and happy.
Another awesome thing, I don't know whether that's customary, but the last musical piece before the closing "Day of Victory" march was Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" from the Ninth Symphony. Now that's what I call style.
