Default Another CTD on start up.

Hey guys been awhile since I've played any MTW2 mods and got a problem that I hope will be an easy answer.. not sure. I have both the old 1.5 and am now trying to play 2.0 but I get the fatal error on start up with both. Every time I've tried I've done a fresh install of MTW2, patched to 1.2(I know 2.0 needs patch 1.3 but I'll get to that in a min.), downloaded all the fixer patches and still get the error message. I try first with the older 1.5, then completely delete and try the 2.0, neither works.

As for the 1.3 patch it won't allow me to install it? I get the message "cannot install 1.3 over 1.00(unpatched) or 1.2" respectively. I got the patch from the American total war site so I don't think it's the wrong language.

I'm playing on windows XP and have the American MTW2 which I bought when it was first released. I use to play 1.5 on my old rig which has since died on me and can't seem to remember if I had to do anything special to get it working. Any suggestions on either the fatal error or patch 1.3? I'd just as happily play the older 1.5, I just wanna play this mod.. I loved it!

    Firstly, you have to patch M2TW to 1.3, but 1.3 requires 1.2, so: M2TW -> 1.2 -> 1.3 -> BC 2.0 -> BC 2.02

Secondly, BC 2.0 won't work with 1.05 installed. You need to uninstall old version completely. Then install BC 2.0 and patch 2.02.

If it won't work - apply bc.cfg fix (it's in troubleshooting thread).

    Hi,

According to this post it works with kingdoms.
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=364617

    Does BC work with Kingdoms?
BC 2.02 works if you have Kingdom installed, however you must use the MTW2 disc and MTW2 executable to launch the game.
Since installing kingdoms automatically patch to 1.4, does it means it works with 1.4?

I get alot of CTD :/

Yes, but I was referring to the BC 1.05 - if one want to play BC 2.02, one need to have clean M2TW installed and patched to 1.03 version. BC 2.02 is a standalone version of the mod and isn't compatible with older versions of the mod.

If it comes to its compatibility with Kingdoms expansion set, BC is not a modification based on Kingdoms - so, you can play with or without it.

When do you have those CTDs, exactly?

    - going back to campaign map after a battle

i tried out several factions for a few turns and the results were the same.

    Using Vista 64. CD-boxed version of M2.

I did a fresh and clean install of M2, patched 1.2 then 1.3 then:
    - installed Broken Crescent 2.02
    - remplaced campaign script
    - removed map.rw

I still get the same kind of CTD

The log files shows nothing except an unspecified error occured (which isnt really helpful).

    If anyone has a clue...
What language version of the game do you have?

Did you install Bc with the foreign language version option enabled? If not, please do so
