    Default Eliminating a faction CtD

    I've done a forum search for the Grand Campaign mod errors, but I can't seem to find mine. Whenever I eliminate a faction (whether it's a HS or Single) the game CtD, no matter what the faction is. Be it Scots, Hungary, or Egypt. I've uninstalled the game and the mod, reinstalled with patches, to no avail. The Kingdoms Grand Campaign mod is the only one I have currently installed. OS is Vista.

    Any tips?

    In addition to this being a shameless self-bump, I now have something else to add onto this whole mess. The computer can eliminate factions (in this instance they took out Norway) but I still cannot.

    Does it pause and seem like nothing is happening? Or kick you out completely?
    Oh, for Heaven's sake, now you're being deliberately stupid.

    Wudang why did you close the thread? Because you can't find a source refuting mine? LoL how's the quest to ban me going?

    It's a crash to desktop. It kicks me out completely with the error message saying, "Medieval 2 has encountered an error and will now close."

    This site is decaying badly despite growing it seems to me. Where has all the good KGCM support gone......Arihyo has gone over a month!!!!! Shameful compared to the situation a year ago when I first started hanging around here. Sadly in that year, I have not learned enough to help you.

    An important factor here is do you have admin rights?- because this used to be an issue for me when playing on my dads desktop, or turn UAC off. Otherwise I'm afraid I can't help... unspecified errors... grrr

    Yeah, I have administrator rights. I'm the only one on my laptop.

    @Arihyo

    I am on my third campaign of HHB and have not had a crash like you have described. What version are you playing? Also be sure that your cfg file for the mod you are playing contains the following lines of code: (medieval2.kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod.cfg)

    [log]
    to = logs/system.log.txt
    level=*script* trace

    Where this system log file is placed seems to depend on what operating system you are using and also your user account control setting(UAC).

    If you can provide me with some more details I will see if I can help. I had a crash during my last campaign and had to temporarily modify one of the export text files. That allowed me to finish that turn and then I reset the values and have not had the crash occur again.

    you're lucky with your CTD, for me the game freezes when i -as far as i know- eliminate scotland playing as norway in turn 15
    just after i conquer the last -visible- scottish town i get a message about the scottish king being killed and his son who succeeds him ... does not seem appropriate if it's indeed the end for the faction . anyway the game freezes every time then.

    i installed the gold edition of medieval total war today, OS is XP home edition and as far as i know i installed the latest versions of both mods and a bug fix ... did i miss a patch somewhere?

    anyway i noticed the
    [log]
    to = logs/system.log.txt
    level=*script* trace

    is NOT in the cfg file but i've no idea how to add it manually either...

    @menasure

    Are you playing KGCM v4.2 or HHB? If your are playing HHB then the faction will spawn a new king and army after it loses its last region and becomes a horde faction and that may take a while. If you press the alt+tab key combination to go to the desktop and then re-enter your game it should speed this process up.

    actually i'm playing both i just followed your advice and it worked !!

    the thing is it really takes a LONG time for this horde faction to start so i considered it to be the game game becoming unresponsive , the task manager was also acting up so i drew the wrong conclusion
    big thanks for the swift reply and the key combination i did not yet know about
