The wheel is spinning, but the hamster is dead.
Unfortunately, I think the guy will get screwed if he sides with the Tories.
Liberal Democrat sources have told the BBC's Jon Soppel that Gordon Brown delivered a diatribe laced with threats when he spoke to Nick Clegg last night by phone. It was in sharp contrast to the respectful and constructive talk between David Cameron and Mr Clegg, they added.
I see Brown is up to his old tricks, he really needs to control his temper.

Please can we add a "he shouldn't do a deal with either of them" option?
The wheel is spinning, but the hamster is dead.
The guy could get screwed either way though... It depends on how long he draws this out and whether or not he can really get some guarantees by either party.
Lib Dems should go in with the Tories because;
a) Clegg has already promised that he would listen to whoever got the most votes
b) Clegg has already promised he would not accept Brown as the next Prime Minister
c) It is right he should go in with the party that earnt the most votes
d) Lib Dems + Labour would not make a majority
e) Lib Dems + Labour + Nationalists would be a massive waste of money and damage our country greatly
f) Labour has already betrayed the Lib Dems on voting reform

He only said listen, what he would like to hear is "We will implement PR"
I doubt the Labour party would accept Brown as the next Prime Minister either at this point.
Technically he should go with the party who got the most votes and that would make life easier, but they're flat not offering them PR while Labour is.

I think he should side with the Tories.
After being in government, I hope people can see that Lib Dems are no different from any other type of politician, and subsequently vote for one of the two, y'know, real parties.
I bet anything Clegg will draw this out for awhile until he gets something substantial from Cameron and then side with him. At the end of the day the Libs and the cons will join.
Neither party is going to implement PR, Helm. At best Clegg will be offered a referendum. You're wrong to say that Labour is offering PR - they're offering a referendum on AV.

My Political Profile.
Under the patronage of Gertrudius!
10 votes for Labour and not one person has bothered to explain why the two losers who have been given a residing 'we don't want you' vote by the country should form a minority government.
Clegg has to be realistic, he won't be able to get any sort of voting reform from the conservatives he neither has the public backing or the political strength to strong arm the Tories into this. IMO his expectations should be a review on voting reform and maybe some Lib-Dem MP's holding moderate sized offices in the cabinet such as education the environment and housing, at best he will get an offer of a referendum electoral reform and Vince Cable as Chancellor and maybe himself as Deputy PM.
He won't be doing any business with Labour, he told us in the first debate that he would support the party that had the largest popular mandate. It's about time Labour supporters and bloggers and the Labour TW who have clearer voted 'back Labour' on the above poll in blind ignorance of the facts to get a grip on reality and realise they have lost. The next few week will see either a Con minority government, Con/Lib coalition or god forbid another election.
What are you talking about? Besides Cameron all of the conservatives leaders and PM's that I have known in my life time have been state educated! Yes they have millionaire MP's but that tend to be self made businessman who have made something of themselves, since Labour have all historically not supported small businesses and entrepreneurs it's no wonder they are naturally inclined to support the Tories.

Yes because if my local MP got more votes then the other guy and got elected that just wouldn't be democracy in action would it? I shoud also point out to you that Labour also doesn't want PR despite what GB is saying, they won't want to introduce a system that will mean they end up with fewer MP's then they already have, all this bluster you here from them promising electorial reform is just like watching a condemned person begging there executioner for mercy by offering their soul.
You are aware that PR did give us colourful characters like Adolf Hitler a chance to rule a country aren't you?
