i recently instaled rtr.

i have all the necsasiry patches, i opened it using the desktop short cut, watched the entire intro movie + credits (just in case) but the game still won't play where ever i go once i hit the button to begin playing the game it crashes on me.

Please help

Ok, well we are going to need a bit more info before we can help you.

A - What type of RTR are you trying to install
B - What is your RTW revision (You want 1.5).
C - Do you have Barbarian Invasion?

I have installed 1.9 or premium/platinum

Did you get the mod foldered version? Could you by any chance have installed the BI version?

I don't understand foldered version and no it is not possible because i played rtw after each patch

modfoldered means it creates a folder inside your rtw folder, most likely called RTRPE
this contains the files needed for RTR PE to work and without disrupting your RTW files so you can play both.
Do you have the shortcut on your desktop RTRPE?

PE simply stands for Platinum Edition and I think was chosen because the previous version was called Gold

Click the Multi-player Battle Reset from your desktop and try to start the game again.

Btw, the intro movies you were watching.. are they the vanilla ones or the rtr ones(the seleucids battling the romans followed by the rtr credits)?

and i tried it and now it won't run at all: the icon appears, it flashes, i click on it it gets big, the screen goes black, it minimizes again

Do you have other mods installed?

nope just the patches 1.3 and 1.5

Did you make sure to install the mod where you have the game? For example newer versions of the game install by default in a folder called The Creative Assembly while RTRPE installs by default in a folder called Activision. Other than that, are you using vista by any chance?

yes it is installed in the rtw folder, and im am using windows 7

Try right clicking the shortcut for your RTR game and select 'Run as Administrator'. If that fails restart the computer and retry. I had a few CTD problems during the first install. Those two things worked for me a few weeks ago when i got a new PC with Win7 and got back into playing RTW mods. - which are the best!

i can't im on a limited account and my dad's administrator account is password protected
