    Default Seeing the enemy on the field

    Why is it you can't see the enemy on the field until you start the battle? You should be able to see them, because you would in real life. That's how you'd decide the deployment of your troops! Any mods that fixes this? Not just Empire, mind - this has been in the game for years.

    I'd say ask a dev but you won't get an answer until the Death Star is in firing position over their office on Yavin

    But seriously, I don't think it really matters since the AI still moves back and forth in a bad game of turkey shoot schuffle board with my cannon until they get into one long line, rearrange some more, then advance haphazardly against me. If the AI had tactics then I'd sign on to the idea of seeing the enemy before battle.

    How about with the latest DMUC - do they have better tactics in that?

    I haven't played enough to test it thoroughly. Check the DMUC forum though? there may be a better report.

    The one land battle I played so far was a disaster for the AI. they spent a long time forming their single line, then marched haphazardly against me (I'll concede to the AI that the terrain on this map was REALLY broken up. it may have been better if it had been a field map). I riped them apart with round shot and my musketmen, then rode them down with cavalry.

    I also haven't tried changing the DM setting to 6/5/4 lines. I'll be doing that though if stock doesn't get any better (but like I said, one battle isn't nearly enough).
