    Default DLC and Elite/Unique Units

If a specific faction has a unique unit available, and I conquer his region, does that unit become available to my faction? I remember a thread about ColdStream Guards and I thought someone said I had to conquer Norway or something. Is that correct? If so, is there a list of which regions will make available which elite/unique units?

    Thanks

I assumed this specific forum is the 'Empire' one.

Next question. I have the DLC for Elite Units-America. I read that when playing as Britain (I am) I should have some units available to me if I meet the listed criteria. For example, the 33rd Foot...it says they are available if I hold the Barracks in England. I do have England, and by Barracks I assume they mean any form of that military building. Anyway, all my techs are complete and the 33rd Foot is NOT an option in England under the Recruitment tab. Neither are the Brunswick Dragoon or the Rotal Welch Fussiliers. i do have a unit of the hessian Grenadiers though over in N. America.
    What am I missing?

Sorry mate, I was not very familiar with british units and they sounded so napoleonic for me. My mistake!
Anyway I checked your problem, started grand campaign as GB. 33rd Foot are avaliable for recruitment on the first turn actually. All other units seem to be there too (I can see them in building tree)
Maybe you are using some sort of mod that conflicts with american pack?
    My game is mod-clean.

No Mods at all. I did install the DLC for those units in the middle of my current campaign, but like I said....I do have the Hessian Grenadiers available....just no others.

Hm then maybe thats the answer?

Try to test it, start yet another campaign as Britain and if everything is right 33rd Foot should be avaliable to recruit on first turn in london!

Yes that's the answer. I was playing a marathas campaign on hard when elite units of the east came out. That pissed me off, cause i wasn't able to recruit them, and i didn't want to start all over again, because i was already in 1750 or so

So you will have to start a new campaign

Ok. But how do I have the Hessian Grenadiers available and not the others?

Hell knows, and how I got all my saves corrupted in a moment near end of my most successful prussia campaign ever?

Because they are an elite unit (in the sence that you can have a limited number of them), but were not part of any DLC. They were in the basic game.

"The Elite Units of America Downloadable Content for Empire: Total War™ adds 15 new elite units to the American, British and French factions of Empire: Total War."

The Hessian Grenadiers is one of these units that is listed in this DLC package.
I also purchased the Special Forces DLC, in which I have Rogers Rangers available, but none of the others.

Oh then it's my bad. I bought all the dlc in one go. And Gb have so many elite units that i don't know which came with the game and which were DLC.

    Hi there.
Coldstream Guards are, along side Black Watch, recruited in Scotland. And in late game.
For the "full list of requirements" here is a link:
    http://www.totalwar.com/empire/elite-units/
Found under Game Add Ons. Choose your pack, then the unit and then Read More.

Thanks for the link. I guess I'm bummed because I was way deep into the main campaign and now it appears I have to start a new one because some (not all) of my DLC units aren't available when you purchase them while in the middle of a campaign. Oh well....it's not like torture playing again I guess.
