Graphics Problem: Units "smashed" together

Finally, I got my RTW working again [Thanks irishron

]

But, heres another problem

All soldiers have a problem, they are smashed together behind their shields. It only fixes if I put the Unit Detail to low, but that gives them pointy hands and legs. I fixed this problem before, but I dont know how to fix it again. Unit Shaders are ON, Unit Detail on Medium [Shown in picture].

I have an ATI Radeon X1200. Running on a laptop, vista.
[Works perfectly well with the game]

Any solutions?

I could be the limits of your laptop. The x1200 is not made for 3d gaming, and if it's Dell we were talking about in another thread, it maybe all the graphics memory allocated by it.

Actually the X1200 runs perfectly fine on RTW, I was able to fix the issue before and it ran perfectly fine.

Are you aware that your ATI graphics drivers are three years old? An update maybe available.
Are you aware your sound drivers are three years old. New one at www.guru3d.com.

I think the update for the driver and the DX thing made the problem worse

. Its much more difficult to change graphics now while in game. I just crashed while trying to fix the problem. The soldiers are still "crunched up".

IMPORTANT!! - I also installed the driver update but everytime I start up the game I get a CrossfireX error thing. I looked it up and said I should just roll back the drivers. Ill give it a try.

Overall Summary: It didnt work D:

Any other solutions?

Pointy hands and legs are caused by 'unit shaders' being off - I am sure that this is set on the options menu - graphics......

Actually unit shaders ARE on, does not fix anything though. It makes it worse. [Check screenshot]

If I turn it off, I get the units, but pointy hands and feet and bent shields...

Ill try update my drivers and stuff Irishron.

Ill let you know what happens.

I have the same problem. Updating my drivers (Ati x1150) never worked for me, so i just always play with unit shaders off..

1. Updated drivers and dx 9 update will not crash it. I've been through this too many times since the game was was released.
2. Dx 9.0b is what RTW requires, is in the update I linked, and is not in dx 10 or dx 11.
3. Odds are the crashes are from you tryiong to push the settings past the laptop's capabilities unless:
4. You remember how you made it work before RTR.

The last line I don't have to say.

Well Ill see what I can do. Im sure Ill figure it out, once I do Ill post it here.

Fixed the problem:
- I installed SPQR [It seems fun

]
- Turned OFF unit shaders and set unit detail to high.

This fixed the problem.
