National Anthems

Post any national anthems you think are awesome, or give in to nationalism and just post your nation's anthem.

Polish anthem is one of the best I think.



I think I can contribute a lot in this thread because some months ago I spent quite some time
listening various anthems on Youtube - and trying to find good versions of them, the latter can be very hard at times.

Austria-Hungary anthem is pretty good as well

Whilst I agree that the USSR's anthem is easily the greatest anthem ever to grace the earth, national pride dictates I post my own.



I do think, though, that the second verse in the British anthem is quite epic.

God Save the Queen used to have a really funny anti-Scottish verse in it too lol:

God grant that Marshall Wade,
May by thy mighty aid, victory bring,

The Russian national anthem is about as badass as they come

Can't go far wrong with the Scottish national anthem.

Originals. There's an audio only version out there that's even better, a little rougher, but with the camaraderie of the audience singing along, and crescendoed vocals in the last verse.

As far as official national anthems go, it's hard to beat the Soviets. My favourite though is the unofficial English anthem Jerusalem.

Spanish one:

Yeah there's 3 versions of the British anthem: the 3 verse one I linked that seems to be most commonly used, there's a 5 verse version as well which is rare, and a 6 verse version containing the Scottish verse which has become completely disused as it's not PC

USSR, Vietnam (The lyrics go something along the lines of 'we will create rivers of our enemies blood') and (as a matter of pride) the UK. Saying that, God Save the Queen is pretty damn boring. Land of Hope and Glory or Rule Britannia are a bit more uplifting.

I'm not a huge fan of God Save the Queen tbh, it reminds me too much of the hymns that we had to sing at school, it's a little bit dusty. On top of which it was either Flower of Scotland or Scotland the Brave that we had to sing at school
