A Suggestion about the "Suggestions" Thread

I have a suggestion about the “Suggestions” thread.

I check it out with some regularity, and have posted there a couple of times. For the most part, however, I find it to be too disorganized, with discussions about a variety of subjects leap-frogging each other and making it difficult to follow any one of them. I believe that even a rather limited reorganization of the Suggestions thread can transform it into a more useful tool for ideas and testing feedback.

So I suggest that the Suggestions thread be split into several broad sub-topics, for example:

Units (unit values, skins, and new unit type suggestions would be here)

Maps (suggestions concerning the strategic map, battle maps, building types and skins would be here)

Campaign & Victory Conditions (campaign type and victory condition suggestions here)

Economics

Sound

I'm thinking that it would make it easier for the moderators and TATW team to sort through too.

That's a good idea! That way a large number of ideas that come in the Suggestions thread will be noted more easily!

Does anything suggested there ever actually get made? I've never even seen the thread but it sounds like it would just be full of hot air, and very disorganized as you have stated. Seems to me like their is already enough ideas and suggestions out there and just not enough modders to make them happen. I would imagine most of the modders that are doing things have their own ideas already so they probably don't even read the thread. Coming up with my own ideas is one of my favorite parts of modding, making them happen is probably another. I would think other modders are similar. Plus the majority of posts and threads concerning new ideas, even though they may be good ideas, are just rehashes of previous ideas and conversations by people who want someone else to make it happen. That is probably why the moderators lumped it all into one thread to begin with, but this is just from my experience.

I do think your idea is a good one, but for reasons stated above I'm not sure how much good it will do in the end. Either way I am all for closing useless cluttered threads and replacing them with potentially useful ones. Might have a better chance of making it happen if you PM a moderator and offer to do the work

Actually the Third Age team follows quite closely the suggestion thread. I've even got two +reps from KK himself from posts in that thread, so I assume they were implemented or will be.

Suggestions just have to be well justified and carry forward the idea of the mod and they will noted for sure.
