EK--nice work! Amazing how relatively minor things like that make a difference, but when I'm recruiting as the Corsairs it was a drag to see all the
peasant pics. Now I can see the prideful heathen pirates in all their glory! I'm on turn 36 and not a CTD to date, only feature I'm not using is the extended map because it is not available in the Third Age free for all no creatures campaign format.

One general game note, I wish troops could score experience a bit easier. Seems to take forever for some units, and I think even if they have limited action they should get credit--it all shouldnt be based on the number of kills. Trolls seem to be the only thing that shoot up in experience like crazy--too fast actually. I don't know if there is any way to balance that. If I have a unit that has been in three battles, they should get an experience point no matter what their participation, in my opinion. If you are there, you are experiencing it, and it's not all about using your weapons (that you can do in practice), it's about carrying out your orders, working in tandem with other units, maintaining morale, etc.

I am glad u like them!
Well, I have intention of making even those recruitment unit card pictures too, I have a lot of work in RL and have to do those pictures in my spare time,
and even my spare time is occupied ( mostly by my wife). When I make them, they will be uploaded here for u guys to use them. If there is any unit info card picture missing or some are bad, let me know.

    [Unnecessary clarification]
My map isn't extended. Maybe I'll think about expanding later, but by the way it's of the same size of standard PCP, I just changed it so that it's now more similar to to this map.
    [/Unnecessary clarification]
By the way I am trying to add regions to the southeastern part of the map, but whenever I add another one the game crashes, so I took one and relocated it from Forodwaith and made one part of Forodwaith the impassable land it was in vanilla.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Bit of feedback for you, I'm playing free peoples of eriador on H/H(I know its supposed to be played on VH/VH but I mustnt be as smart as you because I get steam rolled when I do^^').

I'm on turn 81 and so far no CTD(touch wood). It has been really fun fending off wolves with the Rangers of the North and looking after all those innocently ignorant hobbits and farmers.
The new buildings make sense and add so much more flavour and the mercenaries really gives the idea that there are refugees coming up north fleeing turbulence(or looking for opportunity;D).
The battles are really dynamic, not sure if you've changed much from vanilla?(rebels dont just stand there they attack your unguarded villages!:B).
The creatures are EPIC and enhance the fantasy aspect(which I personally LOVE), the troll shaws are not a desolate waste anymore;P(which was a scary but pleasant surprise).
Ive been keeping an eye on my neighbors and they all seem to be growing at the level I like without toggle_fow I'm not sure how its looking internationally^^' But I do keep an eye on the military levels and they seem to be even between mordor, harad and gondor(because as the savior of middle earth I like to be the one to turn the tide of war against the dark lord just when its at its darkest).

My only gripe would be that the Creations of Eru randomly appeared in longbottom and attacked me>< I wouldnt mind as the hobbits often heard stories that the trees could talk(I like to think that this is were the lost ent wives went). So if I could make peace with them it would be grand, but they wouldnt accept anything less than totally annilating me I luckily assassinated the faction leader and heir and destroyed them. I was wondering though do they reappear?

Ive been kind of role playing it as an alternative third age, I like the idea that Gandalf warns Aragorn after the white council that the dark things are afoot that Saruman convets the one ring, the shadow in the east is growing and Sauron is rising again. After that Aragorn accepts his responsibility as next in line to become King and organizes the Dunedain to spread word that the free peoples should unite under one banner. All the while Gandalf meets with the High Elven nobles and Elrond and convinces them not to return to the undieing lands. Aragorn also meets with the dwarven nobles of the blue mountain and proves that he is the true Chieftain of the Dúnedain and that with their help they can bring the fight to the Orcs.....So thats what I think every time I play The Free Peoples, just thought I'd share^^'

Thanks to anyone that could be bothered to read my ramblings^^'

It's not that different compared to the other three images you posted first. There's just slightly more porn and less gore, that's it.
There are a few ways to fix the CTD's. One way allows you to have multiple maps, but it moves and expands the special units to use the images for maps. This still causes CTD's when switching from campaign and custom battles though, which I believe my approach fixes this if I remember right.

    - on behalf of the Germanic branch of my family, I would like to formally protest some of the stock voices used by Mordor which specifically reference "mein kaiser". this would be OK if the intent was that Mordor was actually referring to that most delicious of baked goods - the kaiser roll, but in this case the reference unmistakably equates Sauron with the Kaiser.

    - the way wargs attacking enemy cavalry is handled is bloody awesome. It also makes perfect sense that they're susceptible to archer fire as well as enemy spears so hiding them away to attack cavalry or chase down routing enemies seems to work well.
Also - (a) is there a way to have units such as wargs which chase down fleeing enemies have the cowardly scum result as casualties rather than prisoners? I'm not complaining cuz the extra ransom is great, but I just don't see a warg as being all that sympathetic to a surrendering dwarf (dwarf chow anyone?)
    (b) I'm not sure if there is a difference between wargs and warg riders - obviously the skinning of the units becomes MUCH more complex with the inclusion of a rider on a warg, but not knowing what Isengard's available units are I am not sure whether they have access to wargs or a bow-wielding warg rider unit that Mordor does not. I'm guessing the intent is similar to a Fell Rider where it is assumed that there's a little evil dude riding beast-back. As an amusing aside, in the deployment stage of a battle using Fell Riders vs Silvan Elves there was what looked like an upside down little golden dwarf dangling from under one of the Fell Beasts. By no means am I complaining as I don't see this as a glitch at all, but funny as hell to see that the Fell Beasts came to the battlefield packing their own lunch

    - some of the Nazgul trait combinations are pretty funny ... Noble in Rule seems a little unlikely, but much more likely than "Social Drinker" which I believe Dwar of Waw picked up. Must be from hanging out with a bad crowd of those frigging Snaga. It would be nice (from the Mordorian perspective anyway) if there were Nazgul specific traits or that you were automatically disqualified from having a trait (e.g. finds sheep attractive) by being an orc or nazgul leader.

    - another effect that would be interesting would be to have devastation appear and spread around any settlement captured by the Misty Mountain Orcs, Isengard, Gundabad Orcs and Mordor. Unlike for normal settlements, however, devastation for these factions means gold/weapons/production. Given that the orc and nazgul leaders seem to have a rather predilection for draining rather than growing settlement populations this could be something to offset that.
    Noted.

Very interesting and drastically different from any other campaign I have played to date.

    Some overall comments:
    - turns at the beginning especially go very quickly as there is only very limited actions available for this scattered faction.
    - units and buildings are really cool
    - Ungoliant's unit is one tough mother ... unfortunately, the sand wyrms we keep running into are freaking deadly and when they're not triggering ctds (see later) they're almost always wiping out Ungoliant's forces.
    - Unit behaviour, pathing and battle motion is really good ... kudos!!!

    Some weird things noticed:
    - in turn 51, I think, Astrond rebelled against the Spawn of Glaurung faction in the far north and voila ... the Loyalists turned out to be from Ungoliant's faction. The units in the settlement were all non-spider units though, but sure enough Astrond was flying the Ungoliant colors and staring over the walls at Glaurung's boys outside. Suddenly, we have both cavalry and dwarven units. Cool, but weird that we have spider sympathizers to the far north ... not sure if this is Sauron's influence.
    - Patriarch sand wyrms had shiny metal skins. I am guessing these are not yet finished models?
    - lots of ctds as compared to playing as Mordor. Most of them are one-time things I think.
    - it's really cool to have no idea what's going on in the rest of Middle Earth and be happy just scuttling back and forth between my four southern settlements.

    Suggestions for improvements:
    - map changes - as with Mordor and its two Orc Encampments, Ungoliant's faction has two Torech Lairs. Unique place names are always nice and much less confusing
    - location names - must be something better than "Caves" although the area around the Caves is really neat ... maybe the Cavern of Aaaaaaaaaaaa???
    - vacating a settlement previously held by Ungoliant causes the settlement to briefly fly the banner of Poland ... cool!
    - Weird accent that goes along with the faction is a little grating, but oh well ... may be better to use Mordor's sound effects - a little creepier than the voice currently being used that I half expect every turn to request a bowl of couscous?
    - Unit General icons currently are of orcs ... I'm guessing this was a placeholder until spider icons could be designed.

All in all another really interesting faction.

    Nicely done!

GAME PLAY QUESTION ... is there any particular type of unit that's really effective against sand wyrms and drakes?

    Thanks again!
Noted. Any unit that uses a two-handed weapon and place in loose formation should be able to take out any drake unit. Javelins are good to. The best strategy is to try and single out the enemy units. Troll tactics basically.

Yes I believe so. I will be removing the island in the south and west (the one in the middle of the ocean not in the south east corner of the map) and replacing it with South Tharbad. Then I will do a "osgiliath rebuilt" script (using osgiliath's battle maps too) for the Tharbads.

Are you using the stock script or did you change some battle_wait timers?

The experience refers to combat experience, not just "going along for the ride experience." You have to actually experience combat to have experience in it.

I just finished up a lot of scripts and changes for Eriador (and Gondor) for the Third Age campaigns that should make them a bit easier and far more fun.

Creations of Eru spawn in Fangorn if the settlement population is unhappy after being conquered. They will spawn again if Fangorn's population becomes unhappy again which is pretty unlikely until a different faction captures Fangorn.

It IS save game compatible, it has no affect on any of the campaign files. I looked at your crash logs (still couldn't get the saves to load) and I am pretty sure it is some battle_wait timers causing the CTD as suspected. Some are 10-30 seconds long and seem to cause crashes for certain peeps more often than others( due to processor speed I suppose).
There will be a lot of changes and additions in the next patch so hopefully it will be fixed.

If you do start a new campaign you can test something for me, replace all "battle_wait 10", "battle_wait 20", and "battle_wait 30" with "battle_wait 0.5" in the script. You can also remove the "anti-CTD simlulated mouse clicks" which seem to actually cause CTD's.

@Elvenkind - I'm not sure if it's just my computer being uncooperative but the 4shared link for the unit cards seems not to work (will try the other one in a moment)

@whoever/everyone - how are CTDs when killing off the wolf rebels? I was kind of assuming it was just a quirk of the game, however I'm starting to get the impression that everything's running well for most people.

In case it is just me, what I'm noticing is that for the wolves (wasn't a problem when I had to deal with corsair/brigand? rebels as Gondor) I seem to have a 50% chance of getting a CTD right at the start of the battle. I've learnt to save beforehand and reload (when it almost always works) but if it's potentially fixable that would be awesome.
No idea if it is actually having any effect or its just a psychological quirk/heuristic but I also try avoiding pressing keys/moving the mouse as it pans out after deployment, because it seems (probably inaccurately) that, if its got that far, sometimes that is what causes the CTD.

I'll try and provide proper feedback at somepoint too; once I can make myself start a proper game, rather than going for something a touch too easy each time and getting bored. How do the 2 wood elf factions play out compared to each other? I keep feeling somewhat biased towards the new faction as it starts off in the economic heartland of the silvan elves when they were a single faction.

The battle CTD's are caused by the battle script. If an army has a lot of mounts (or creatures) it will increase the chance of a CTD. Panning the camera or pressing buttons right after clicking "start battle" also increases the chances as you have noticed. It has something to do with processing speed and battle_wait timers. They will be fixed and are a priority but testing whether it works is very time consuming since it is a random bug. Plus I have a really good processor so I get very few battle CTD's, which makes me not ideal to test the fix.

For anyone getting frequent battle crashes, if you start a new campaign you can test something for me, replace all "battle_wait 10", "battle_wait 20", and "battle_wait 30" with "battle_wait 0.5" in the script. You can also remove the "anti-CTD simlulated mouse clicks" which seem to actually cause CTD's. This will save me a lot of time in finding the cure, and ensure it makes it into the next patch (which is HUGE so far) if others test it for me.

Another proposal, for The Fourth Age Campaign: triggering in the beginning of the campaign an huge volcanic eruption from Mount Doom (representing the one that really happened) that heavily damages every city in the area know as Gorgoroth. I know the descr_disasters.txt in TATW is empty, but I was wondering if we can add just this scripted one.

I added it by script but you can't see it (even with FOW toggled off) unless you have a unit in the area. It is a limitation of the game, I don't think there is any other way around it. So the script needs to contain a section that spawns an agent in the area for whatever faction the player is to see the volcano erupting. I never wanted to spend the time scripting such a thing, maybe I will when all the other scripts are done. If someone else wants to take a crack at it I will add it to the game. I think KK might have made such a script for TATW but I am too lazy to check his work and I don't even have vanilla installed. Anyone else know? I will add it to the ol' to do list though.

    @alreadynotquitedeadyetfeellikegoingforawalk

Thanks for the feedback. I will try and start a new campaign with the changes you suggested. I've noticed the ctds as well just before a battle starts. My system is pimped out pretty good though and not sure why all of a sudden processor speed would cause issues, but I'll give it a whirl.

This will save me a lot of time in finding the cure, and ensure it makes it into the next patch (which is HUGE so far) if others test it for me.
thanks for the quick response, I'll wait a few days to see if you've got any factions that could do with testing then get a new game going.

Just thinking some more on the comments made regarding my ctds ... makes sense completely about why in the pre-battle and early battle there are ctds when moving the mouse/clicking etc may cause a ctd, but in all cases when those things have happened they have been non-recurring ctds.

ALL of my battles with dwarves, however, are resulting in a ctd ... no exceptions. I've tried sallying out to meet them with Framsburg under siege, I've tried waiting for them to attack the walls of Framsburg and then I even met them in open field before they reached the city. All ended in ctds and not too far into the battle.

Try a custom battle with the Axethrowers, if you get a CTD it is because the axe projectiles cannot be found. I would imagine that is what is still causing the problem.

@ElvenKind - I've been trying to get campaign battle replays to work with MTW2 or Cine-Ed but I'm having troubles Thought you might be able to offer some insight due to your recent experience.
Have tried your method as described in this post, but still no dice. I can play custom battle replays just fine in MTW2 and cine-ed, but campaign battles just crash as soon as they load. Like you, I have win 7, desktop, UAC disabled, etc.

I may end up editing the EDU in order to get screenshots of some units not usually available in custom battles. Gratz on the unit info pics, they look great!

Edit: while trying to get this to work, I found that the Yeomen unit (a mercenary light cavalry available nearish to Dale territory) is a silver surfer
