TA Campaign Allies and Enemies
I'm playing the Third Age campaign mode and the Tolkien lore is getting pretty violated in terms of who allies with who and who goes to war with who. Rohan is at war with the elves, ect. Am I doing something wrong is this just part of the more open ended experience?

Diplomacy is kinda messed up for some reason though some like it when it's messy. Afaik if you ally with one of the factions that are at war they'll declare a truce so just try to get an alliance with everyone.

Re: TA Campaign Allies and Enemies
Sub-mods fix this altogether, although I think a lot of effort was put in by TATW devs to lessen this happening whilst still allowing it (i.e. setting stances at start, preventing allies attacking allies without dip. etc). So in answer to your question, you're not doing anything wrong and it's part of the open-ended experience.
Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your persuasion), in vanilla TW you cannot force the AI to 'play nice' with those you want it to 'play nice' with. Your only options are constantly allying with both culprits (causes ceasefire) or to mod the game and create unbreakable alliances at/before the start of the game. Of course, the AI doesn't 'think' and definitely doesn't look to preserve LOTR lore as you would like.
