    Default NEWB - to Steam and TW...

    Hi,

    Well I've had Steam loaded and ETW for about a week... Made it through the install process and had a minor issue because my display driver was not the latest one... All good now - up and running... Worked my way through some battles and started a Grand Campaign as England... I think I am getting the hang of it... I'm not a real fan of having Steam loaded but such is life...

    I just discovered this site and - WOW - pretty impressed from what I have seen in the MODS section...

    Before I start trying to apply any MODS - I should back up the entire 16.1GB ETW directory and save it somewhere else - right ??? If I mess anything up I can just remove the modified version and copy the saved folder back to the Steam directory or would Steam prevent that for some reason ???

    Can I load more than one MOD at a time or are they mutually exclusive ??? I am interested in both the DarthMod and the American Revolution Mod to start... I like things as realistic as possible - are any of the other mods a better place to start ???

    Also - quick question on game play - if a friendly nation sits on your supply line - are they taking your trade goods too ???

    you are right. just back up the whole first. i gotta deinstall and redownload most of the patches. welcome to steamed hell.
    mods - the major mods usually can coexist. as a rule of thumb though if you have to overwrite/rename files to get a mod to run it might not be compatible with other mods.

    When choosing large, major Mods it is best to read up on the one that suits you and use just that. it`s never a good idea to try and mix two major mods because they are designed to work alone unless said otherwise in the Mod`s readme.

    No. A friendly nation does not take your goods while on your trade lanes. It wouldn`t be very friendly of them if they did and would be a cause for war. If they are raiding (pirate intermittent flag) then they`re raiding an enemy of theirs on the same route as you, but not taking your trade.

    On the other hand...Thinking about it, it is possible that if they`re enemies with someone you`re friendly with you could be receiving less from them than you would otherwise get... Never thought of that.

    With ETW you don't have to backup the entire thing. Nearly all mods here work with pack files that you simply put into your datafolder and enable and disable with the Modmanager.

    Some mods are "modfoldered" as well so that you can load the mod through its own .exe, or play vanilla through its .exe. a perfect example I'm familiar with is DarthMod Ultimate Commander. No mod manager is required!
