losing to the AI is actually possible.
rome wasnt divided between families and actually was a republic that parallels its historic counterpart.

That Romans did not had ninjas and gladiators in Thracian helmets fighting in their armies.

In a more serious note, that Ptolemies made such an extensive import of Galatians that they altered the ethnic mixture in an entire region, traces of which can be seen to this day.
Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they are in good company.

Macedonian armies (I'm including the Diadochi of course.) used Hoplite-style troops to secure their right flank.

You can't conquer Gaul and expect to immediately raise a legion.

The "barbarian" factions, really arent all that "barbarian" as they are portrayed by the Romans, theyre just... diffrent in a number of ways.

Some of those diffrences actually being much preferable over the Roman counterpart (like, celts respected women in their society and women displayed their authority/power openly, in Roman society, women had to be sneaky for power, like, well, Livia, correct me if Im wrong though).

that the Egyptians multiply like rats...

also, that the romans are the ones who counterbalance that

That retaining and controlling a region as a of a lot harder than conquering one.....*sigh*.....esp if you are being nice and only occupying every city you take.....

that the so called "eastern" barbarians (pontos/armenia), weren't just a bunch of no good fools, running into an early grave, by foolishly charging the mighty hoplites (in phalanx formation ofcourse).

oh, and that the "immitation legionaries", werent really immitations

The Gauls are a pain specialy if you play with Rome. But after all they are wiped out by the legions...but at least they fight back and are dangerous specialy when they mass 4 armies that come from nothing and almost wiped out one of my armies off Hastati, Triarii and princepes and some auxilia...but they will be destroyed the revenge of Mars is terrific!

Not every coastal city had huge military port ( in late game )
Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

That some people have rep whore tags ^

But mostly that discipline, stamina and tactics were far more important than brute strength on the fields. And that it was safer to starve a city out than risk your troops in assaults on the walls.
