There are known problems with Nvidia cards and the battles.
As it's the 8800GT you may want to try the oldest driver available for that card. Something like ForceWare 97.92. That's only an option though if you're running Windows XP as the Vista and 7 drivers will be too "new". You will need driver cleaner pro and you will have to uninstall the current driver first, reboot into safe mode, clean using driver cleaner pro using the "nvidia" option and then reboot and install the older driver (followed by a reboot). If you don't run driver cleaner pro before installing the older driver - it won't work.
Thanks for the reply, yeah that sounds like a ordeal, well i guess thats what you get when you get Vista. Thanks for your time!
Hey also i looked inot properties of the Short Cut and under the compatibility tab there are some options to run it in a lesser windows mode and a few other options. I will try that when i feel like dealing with the its to good to play old games bs.
I found a way to run it, go to Shortcut...right click, click properties, COMPATIBILITY TAB Select Windows 95 mode...Apply.......Start Shogun....go to Video, CLICK SOFTWARE VIDEO , now it is not breath taking graphics, more Atari like but it works.

The old drivers are not an option under vista.
Ok it's STW you're playing? You posted in the MTW forum. Anyway, yes with STW there is the option of the software render which works because it does not use Direct3D - unfortunately it runs slowly and looks terrible. You probably don't need the campatibility mode either.
