@1776ish
My current campaign has developed in an interesting way.
Except for Amsterdam and Flanders (Spain-me) and Alsace-Lorraine (France) everything else in Europe is controlled by Poland. Prussia and Austria are gone.
Hannover (Sweden) and Denmark (Denmark) are the last Protestant territories left in Europe.
Here's where it gets interesting...
I, Spain, want/need Austria.
Spain has alliances with France, Genoa, the Italian Cities, Venice and a trade agreement with Poland among other agreements/alliances.
France is allied with Poland and Genoa (also an ally of Poland) and I believe Venice
Genoa, Venice and the Italian Cities are definitely allied.
After Vienna and the Rhineland fell to Poland I, Spain, new war was inevitable so I raised more armies and sent them to my cities. Flanders, Amsterdam, Milan, Naples and Spain all have armies stationed in them.
The reason why, if not already apparent, will be explained shortly and is why I described the situation as "interesting."
If/when I declare war on Poland they call their allies...who happen to be my allies also...lol
...I have this nagging feeling that my allies will choose to support Poland over me.
I'm the biggest dog in the pack with nearly, if not, twice the prestige points as the next faction and Flanders is a region wanted by France.
As described earlier the situation for Spain is potentially perilous. Spain proper has France to the north. Flanders/Amsterdam are surrounded by France and Poland. Milan is surrounded by France (Savoy), Genoa and the Italian Cities who also could threaten Naples.
I'm not sure how the chips will fall when I go to war with Poland but it's going to be interesting...
Just to try to put it in a clearer way: all the actors in Europe (except for Sweden [Hannover] and Denmark) are going to be connected in this upcoming war.
