Christian preacher arrested for saying homosexuality is a sin

Dale McAlpine was charged with causing “harassment, alarm or distress” after a homosexual police community support officer (PCSO) overheard him reciting a number of “sins” referred to in the Bible, including blasphemy, drunkenness and same sex relationships.

The 42-year-old Baptist, who has preached Christianity in Wokington, Cumbria for years, said he did not mention homosexuality while delivering a sermon from the top of a stepladder, but admitted telling a passing shopper that he believed it went against the word of God.

to be fair, the bible DOES explicitly say that homosexuality is a sin, hes neither lying nor being alarmist.
Maybe you think the bible is a bunch of nonsense, but that doesnt mean hes not telling the truth.

On topic: Freedom of speech with limitations is no freedom of speech.
Personally I dont care if someone is attracted by male butts, but for sure I hate it beeing preached as a sort of fancy, new progressive and admireworthy way of life...

I do not think homosexuals should be harrased or violated, it´s nothing to be ashamed of- but for sure it´s nothing to boast with either.

There´s a ton of other bible quotes that make the blood chill of certain groups, and in a forthgoing errosion of christian values/teaching in the west, church capitulates.

It´s a shame.


You cannot demand from the church, that it on the one hand mustn´t intervene in secualr federal affairs, but on the one hand let the state prosecute the church for preaching her doctrines.

You do not agree with the church´s point of views? fine! But no justification to lock priests away because they oppose the eroding agendas we are subjugated to.

And yes, in certain cases it is sin.

Depends on the issue. The Telegraph is known for Euroscepticism and Religious victim hood conservatism. The best we can do is hope for independent verification, and just to be sure cross reference vigorously.

They are reliable, as far as papers can be reliable. Our national motto is pretty much ''Don't believe everything you hear in the papers''. I'm just saying this particular article is one sided. We only see the preacher's side of the story, and nothing else. The police don't exactly give interviews so frivolously.

This is Murdoch of Fox News remember. The Times can often go many weeks without seeming like a Murdoch paper. But at the end of the day, i always think about Murdoch. This is why i like the Guardian. Its as independent as they come. Still has an agenda. I think the BBC is the only medium that has active measures in place to prevent certain agendas from reaching the news desk.
