HI all, starting a new thread for my Italian States Mod, Starting with Genoa
I have included a "no back pack" mod that takes out all the extra ammo boxes as well, this is optional, but I use it to stop the models becoming cluttered as I have added in bags and boxes.
This is my first mod where I have played with the models themselves, moving hats, heads etc., so there may be some minor faults, but the mod seems to work ok.
Have also included the latest UPC, will pass on the details to Swisshalberdier for his next update.
At the moment only a vanilla version as I believe that IS and Darth are both soon to be updated, so will release those versions then.
Thanks.
And of course all who have contributed to this rather excellent community.
Info
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Genoa. I have limited information on Genoa, only one source, the NYPL, and thats for the 1740's, so a little too early for me but better than too late. I also had to make a decision as to the Guard, I suspect that the uniform used was that of a line regiment, but they look good enough to be guards, so I hope you can except them as such. The same goes for the Militia. If anyone has any info they would like to share, mid century, nothing later than 1760's, that would be great. I still have the artillery and a cavalry unit to do.NOW ADDED Sources, Attachment 87367 1.3, Two new guard units and the replacement grenzers. Screens page 12.
(Flowers courtesy of Primergy's flower mod, http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=353007, not included) Version 1.2, have now added, light cavalry, Swiss line and grenadiers,Greek line, new militia skin, mounted militia, light infantry(temporary), late period marines. Screens page 9. Savoy version 1.1, Have started Savoy with Guard and elite units, line, grenadiers and militia. The militia are a little earlier than the rest but I wanted a distinct look to them compared to the rest. Reduced the number of guards you can recruit but made this up with the Swiss, so in total you get 8 elite units. Screens on page 4. 1.11 Now added cavalry, artillery and dragoons, screens on page 6. 1.3, Two light infantry units added, screens page 12. 1.4, Have added 2 guard cavalry units, marines and invalids. Screens on page 13. Papal States Version 1.5, guard, militia, dragoons and horse released, guard infantry, Modena guard, line, light and artillery. Screens on page 16.
Venice. Version 1.6, line infantry, grenadiers, provincial infantry, mounted light infantry, carabinniers, and artillery. Screens page 19. Version 1.7 and 1.8, guard cav, infantry, dragoons, adjusted militia for Darth version, added unit descriptions for some of the Genoa units, curtesy of RexImperator. Screens page 23 1.9, New guard unit, light infantry, and elite infantry, have also made recruitment of horseguard and new elite for Venice home region only, added some unit descriptions by RexImperator for Savoy. Screens page 26. 2.0, Some colonial units added, plus new units for Venice. Screens page 27 Version 2.01
Have now added colonial units for all the factions, put the marines on board the ships for Savoy, Genoa and Venice, and begun to add unit info pics, still some way to go with this, and tweaked the unit sizes for the Darth version. Screens on page 29 Version 2.02
Naples and Sicily started, added info pics for the Papal States. Screens on page 30
I will give you rep wehn you have an all round mod for all the Italian States
Oh, i see that you need some work with the cavalry, well, Italy had Itallian corazzieri, these were hightly skilled cuirassiers.
Here are some pictures:
Note the helmets, the cuirassiers of other factions had tricorne hts, no helmets.
And if you want, I have made some 'Italian republic' flags.
Hi POM you are the man - and will make many gamers I know very happy

Thanks for the info, MatrixStorm, will check these guys out, I hope they were around during the SYW.
Have done some artillery, now working on the cavalry. Attachment 87419
I see, they where created as a bodyguard for the president of the Italian Republic...
Actually, they were initially the guards of the king of Sardinia starting in 1868.
There was the "Compagnia Corazzieri del Duca" from beforehand but they were not directly related as the above pictured horsemen are from the Crabinieri and they would have had different uniforms.
But I have a 2 part idea if your interested ... For the Italian States (In all reallity, the Papal States), why not rename the faction to "Rome"... Why?!?!? I'm glad you asked
1. Never in history, have I ever heard of the name "Italian States" used to refer to Papal regions of central Italy. And if you named it the "Papal States", then so much for the idea of a Roman Republic...
Rome was quite often a name given fro the regions under Papal Control. In all reality he was the "Bishop/Pope of Rome"...
But this is only the first part of my idea, why not make a complete reskin for if the faction goes "Republican". This reskin would be based off the the "Roman Republic" of the 1800's... The faction would still mantain a few of it's Papal Gaurd units as well, because in all reallity, the Pope was still allowed to remain in Rome, he was just no longer the sovereign of the city. And if the Roman state needed men, I'm sure it would "Borrow" a few of the Pope's Gaurds ...
So what do you think? This is just an idea to add some spice to this mod ... Good Luck
I'm curious to know how much you intend to dow ith this mod, do you plan on simply reskinning existing units or do you plan on adding a few unqiue units to the Italian factions.
Also do you plan on working on all the Italian factions or just a few of them.
