    Icon5 Infantry Training Time?

Generally speaking how many weeks/month would it take to train a standard infantryman in the 18th century?

Do you mean the time recommended by officers/military writers? Or the time of training in reality? If so, in the time of a peace or during a war?

I am far from being a specialist but I think it's generally 3 months to train a soldier in a standard regiment. For more specialised or veteran/elite status, it will take more time.

depends. For example France did formed rookies very quickly, but those soldiers then had to spend a lot of time in training. But if elite regiments were formed like for example 2nd Guard Grenadiers - those were nor recruited from inexperienced men, but they took men from others units if they fullfil the requirements (10 years of service, over 1.75m height, mentioned for valour, etc...)

so i'd say it depends on definition - how fast you could form regiment administratively? probably in month (2 turns?) but those men will be just a rookies that will be killed like flies by any regular enemy unit...
