that was inspired by the source you found most likely, are you saying the silver dish is not Sassanian make or depicting a people subject to the Sassanians? I'd like to know your reasoning, because those horsemen appear to be an interpretation of what was on the dish.

Can someone please find this silver dish?

Its the silver dish that you want http://depts.washington.edu/silkroad.../smirnov50.jpg .

First of all I don't agree with the author's opinion.

The figures probably represent mythical heroes possibly connected with Zoroastrian festivals marking the cycle of the seasons.
Ok...? based on? what? the author's opinion?

As such their tree-pointed headgear may have had symbolic meaning rather than reflecting real helmets.

Gee what a way to shore up the gaps in your personal theory... not that speculation is wrong we all must do it, but let's be clear this is speculation not fact.

The rest of their very detailed military gear appears to be entirely realistic.
Really? I wonder how this person assumes the headgear (which is actually just as detailed if you look at the real dish not the ink print) is somehow less detailed? Because they've never seen such craft work before perhaps? Then again apparently according to the article the closest representations to them come in the 9th and 10th centuries of Islamic Khurasan... are these too imaginary and not realistic representations?

This writer is speculating as are we, I don't feel according to that article and the over all lack of evidence from the period we are any less reasonable in our interpretation, however the parade does seem to choose ring (or actually studded) mail over chain, but is that such a sin?

Certainly these helmet won't go out to the bottom tier troops and will be reserved for a lord.

The real dish: http://depts.washington.edu/silkroad.../smirnov50.jpg Look now and tell me that the headgear is not well defined and clearly attached to the mail coif.

I'm happy with what Marcel has done, if he is open to a few small changes which I think he is already doing we can make alternates. But let me be clear these will be reserved for a lord and will be considered lordly gear so Very expensive.

By the way what do you think of these Parthian cataphracts? good model to start with?

either way it's nice to see how armor reacts when the horses are trotting,

it would be a definite weight hindrance for a horse to be fitted with such heavy gear

(heavy that is after enduring heat of battle).

I'am sorry for my break, but I didn't spend it in vain. I worried about what would happen while I was gone and spent some of my time honing my skills. I'am honored to present my work, what I have done for the sake of history and for the love of antiquity.
