    Default The Poems of Thera

    Hi there! This is a phenomenon started by The Holy Pilgrim, but I continued as well. We urge anyone with the creativity to make poems about the factions and occurrences in Thera!

    Here's some to start off with:
    URUKS - THP
    Uruks
    They shall be my finest warriors,
    these beasts who give of themselves to me.
    Like clay I shall mould them,
    and in the furnace of war forge them.
    They will be of eternal hatred and beastly fury.
    With great intelligence shall I bless them
    and with the mightiest swords they be armed.
    They will be untouched by plague or disease,
    no sickness will blight them.
    They will have strength, loyalty and courage
    so that no foe can best them in battle.
    They are my bulwark against the Romuli.
    They are the Defenders of Demos.
    They are my Uruks
    and they shall know no fear.

    - Callisto, on the Creation of the Uruk (by The Holy Pilgrim)
    ROMULI - THP
    Romuli
    Go forth my Legions, onward to Demos!

    Show them that we are their tamers,

    that they must be obedient to their masters.

    Have I not shown them love, kindness and mercy?

    Have I not given them their freedom and joy?

    How dare these wretched creatures raise their hands against me!

    They show no respect to their King!

    Purge the city of all uncleanliness,

    be it Uruk or Man alike.

    Bathe the streets of Demos in the blood of their treachery

    and show them my all merciful glory!

    Strike with your steely serpents,

    and may it find the flesh of an Uruk

    and cleanse him of evil!

    I am Caesar Nero!

    My word is law!

    -Nero sending forth his legions to Demos (THP also)
    LAO CHE - OZZMOSIS
    Lao Che
    Over sea and land, grass and snow,
    Pass the people of the horse, not of the hoe.
    Our Tumens are great, our warriors strong,
    Our eyes keen and our blades long.
    On horseback we travel, on horseback we fight,
    We hunt until the morning light.

    Across sea and land, grass and snow,
    All our enemies soon will know,
    They have come to their final day,
    For we are the Lao Che!

    Rousing poem by Lao Che propagandist - Ozan the Bard (By me!)
    SYCORAX - THP
    Sycorax
    Great Spirit!
    Long ago, this land was home to many Mammuc
    and to our ancestors.
    Our rivers were pure, our lands green,
    and our food plentiful.
    Dark times came upon us.
    When the first pale skins reached our lands,
    we welcomed them and trusted them.
    They brought iron and black magic with them.
    Now, they poison our water, taint our land,
    and and our people are few.
    Rise my Braves!
    Together we must halt this swarm of locusts
    that threaten to devour the harvest of our labour.
    Ride forth on the might Mammuc,
    the swift steed,
    and on fleet foot.
    We must rid Lenapa of the pale skins!
    A new Warpath has begun!

    -Swift Moon, Great Shaman of the Sycorax (THP)
    FAUST - RUCKULF
    Faust
    In the middle of Thera an empire lies, with towers as high as the skies.
    In this empire lies, a castle so nice, home to some Faustian guys.
    The Avalons hide, inside cam-e-lot. But Faust does not worry, soon they'll be shot
    !

    Ruckulf
    AVALON - TYRENIA
    Avalon
    Over hill beyond the sea,

    Beneath the bright blue sky;
    Girt ‘round by shining walls and towers,
    Did Castle Avalon lie.

    Within the Castle’s mighty walls,
    The Holy Grail did dwell;
    Protected by a mighty King,
    The one called Arthur Eld.

    But from the North a danger struck,
    From land of Ice and Snow;
    The heathen Norsemen in their ships,
    Set many towns aglow.

    So galloping from his Castle came,
    In hand Excalibur held;
    The bravest and most true of knights,
    The great King Arthur Eld.

    And with him came a mighty host,
    Armed with bow and sword;
    To turn the tide of Norsemen back,
    In the name of God their Lord.

    All through the night the host did ride,
    ‘til at dawn they beheld;
    Beheld the light of new day’s sun,
    ‘round the form of Arthur Eld.

    Then Arthur and his army charged,
    Beginning their desp’rate attack;
    And thought the fight was long and hard,
    The Norse were driven back.

    But though the day was nearly won,
    The last man nearly felled;
    All men turned and saw the dread,
    On the face of Arthur Eld.

    For deep in sea of blue and green,
    A thousand sails did fly;
    And each in Arthur’s loyal band,
    Feared that they would die.

    Then Arthur prayed a simple prayer,
    Voice brazen like a bell;
    He prayed for hope and salvation,
    Did good King Arthur Eld.

    The heavens split open with thunderous burst,
    As God’s Almighty wrath was shown;
    The sea itself rose up in anger,
    And the dragon boats in the air were thrown.

    And since that day the land was saved,
    God’s Torment was withheld;
    The land sheltered in God’s hand,
    By the Faith of Arthur Eld.

    Arthur Eld – Tyren, Avalon Poet Laureate 122 ST – 178 ST
    (Tyrenia)
    VALHALLA - OZZMOSIS & LED ZEPPELIN
    Valhalla
    We come from the land of the ice and snow,
    The midnight sun and where the geysers blow.
    The hammer of the gods, will drive our ships to new lands,
    To fight Avalon, and sing and cry:Valhalla we are coming!

    On we sweep with threshing oar,

    Our only goal is the Western Shore.
    Our enemies will soon be no more,
    Tasting our axe-steel, 'til they hit the floor!

    We come from the land of the ice and snow,

    The midnight sun and where the geysers blow.
    Oh how soft your fields of green, can whisper tales of gore...
    So many have fallen, yet on we come, crying:Valhalla we are coming!

    Valhalla Tavern song, anonymous. (me, with many credits to Robert Plant and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, this is basically the lyrics of Immigrant Song with appropriate changes!)
    GAELIC NATIONS - WINSINGTON III
    Gaelic Nations
    They came by ships of wooden planks;
    They came with crosses, swords, and chains;
    To bound our hands in servitude;
    To crush our spirit 'neath their boots.

    But Tethra is not welcoming,
    To those who kneel in false belief;
    To those who threaten death and rape;
    On such chosen as Tuatha Dé.

    Our swords are keen, our spirits keener;
    Our vengeance cry rings out;
    The Dagda hears his children shout,
    And shakes his mighty club.

    When battle joins and axe meets shield;
    Our spirit must prevail;
    The Dagda watches from on high;
    His power fills our hearts.

    And whence our fire overcomes,
    The kneelers and their cross;
    Once more they sail on ships of wood;
    In flight from Dagda's isle.

    Excerpt from the White Book of Creidhne
    (Winsington III)
    BARKA SULTANATE - YETIFATMAN
    Barka Sultanate /Barakah Sultanat

    In the name of Allah the beneficent the merciful.

    Deliver our holy warriors a worthy victory,
    For it is we who are more true in faith,
    And we fight not to bring ruin and despair,
    But to bring peace and sanctuary for our people.

    Those amongst you who march into battle with Allah on thy lance,
    And al-Qur'an in thy hand,
    And truth casting aside lies in thy mind,
    Then fear not death and know that even if you do die,
    You die a hero of not only the Sultan,
    But Religion.

    Now, my soldiers of Religion
    Now we march across the grassy plains,
    For beyond here lies Jannat-'adn,
    The birth place of all men.

    Cast away all fear,
    Bring into your heart devotion,
    And today we shall see victory.

    Now go,
    Drive the unfaithful from the holy land!

    -Tarek The Fearless before leading his men into the Siege of Bae Eden
    DUCADO DE LA SANGRE VALIENTE - OZZMOSIS
    Valiente
    Camaradas! We march, and fight, and invent!
    Para el duque, en casa, los ciudadanos!
    Whether with sword, pike or musket, we conquer!
    Conquistadores, espadachines, artilleros!
    We bring the light of technology to the masses!
    Medicina, educación, astronomía!

    To the north lies Faust, the fist of tyranny,
    and in the south the infidels, closed-minded and dumb.
    To the west, across the ocean is Opportunity and wealth!
    The natives welcome us, or soon will learn!

    Our generals are scholars, our scholars inventors!
    The driving force of the new age is wisdom, not dogma!
    Onwards amigos, onwards, to the New Age, para la Sangre Valiente!

    Hernán Cortes, Grand Conquistador and explorer of the Ducado
    PAYNÁL - OZZMOSIS
    Paynál
    We run with the jaguar,
    fly with the eagle,
    eat with the buffalo
    and sleep with the wolves.

    We fight as giants,
    and are as many as the stars,
    we are the gods' chosen,
    we are the people of Paynál!

    Sycorax, Kukulcan, pale-skin,
    All will fall to our clubs!
    No need have we for sorcery,
    our arm-strength wins the day!

    Tlangtacloc, Grand Shaman's chant
    MEN OF WOTAN - BORISSOMEONE
    Wotan
    We of the Wotan are born from fire and Ice,

    Our lands made with the first,
    His blood our seas,
    His flesh our lands,
    His thoughts formed the clouds,
    Sweet rain that washes away our pain,
    His eyes the sparks in the night sky, and
    His bones, the stones that we build with.

    We of the Wotan, ever tolerant,
    No more, for the ‘Torment’ is upon us,
    We tolerate no more.
    Our hearts are ice and our eyes blaze fire,
    Our axes light and the blood courses in rivers,
    We of the Wotan are born of fire and ice.

    Let the pagan killers come,
    Let the Valhalla rattle their shields,
    The time of peace is over,
    We are born of fire and ice.

    From the Histories of the Wotan, writer unknown.
    ROYAUME DES BONS CHEVALIERS - THP
    Thundering hooves
    sound across the land.
    The shine of victory
    gleams off of their iron fortitude.
    They are a wall of steel-tipped justice,
    vowing to strike down all who oppose them.

    Their steeds are the sound of victory,
    and their swords the bringer of honor.
    They ride across the field,
    unscathed by the arrows of their foes.
    They charge across the battlefield,
    untouched by fear.
    They scream in glory,
    undeterred by death.

    They are the Knights of the Chevaliers,
    and they are here.
    Here to bring honor and glory
    To those who love them.
    Here to bring death and vengence
    upon those who do not.

    Beware lesser nations of Thera!
    Your Messengers of Death are here!
    Here to send you to eternal peace
    and end your suffering forever.

    - Jacques de Aquitaine

    SPARTA - PERICLES-PLATO
    "Time has brought a new age
    An age of writing History
    With our new found rage
    we forget our mystery

    History is written every day
    In what we write of it
    In comfort we lay
    It's up to us to tell of it"

    -Platricles Spartan Philosopher.
