Default BI.exe or alex.exe for RS?

Hi. I just bought Rome Total War just to play RS 1.6a, and later, RS II. For both, which game is better to run RS on, BI or Alexander? I tried to search the forum but it didn't come up.

Can campaigns started with one .exe be continued on another? If I start one campaign with RS-RTW, can it be continued on RS-BI or RS-ALX?

    Darn...

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Makes me wish I'd have started my awesome Macedon campaign on ALX instead of RTW.

Ive once started a campaign in EB using rtw exe, then later moved those savegames to be used with the alx.exe, while the AI combat ai and naval ai improved, it seems like some features can are only used if the campaign is initiated with the alx.exe, like night battles, AI retraining units etc.

The Alex AI is definitely a lot better, as are the events e.g. huge thunderstorms!

This is a very old screenie (so not everything is as it will be) but proof that thunderstorms work in RSII!

Does that building tree show two types of highway, and a great forum and trader? Are they not direct upgrades anymore? Also two levels of farming? Or is this just old and something that has been removed now? Just curious.

Maybe one of the highways is like the caravan route thing you could get in the east- just a romanized version.

the 2 farms i can answer by that 1 is actually not a farm but it a campus martinius and is the 4th level of "barracks" for the romans(the 3rd from the bottum left) as to the 2 markets i suppose 1 was a place wholder for one of the added economic parts in that have been added.

Wasn't thunderstorms already in RTW vanilla? Or am I remembering wrong?

I experienced an extremely severe thunderstorm in a trial campaign as Pergamum and it was a real doozy. Reduced a 10-ship fleet of biremes to rubble and killed at least 3,000 people in neighboring Byzantium.

Right now in my (new) Macedon campaign I'm fighting a vicious plague in Heraclea that's worse than than just about anything I've ever experienced in RTW history. RS really steps things up compared to other mods.
