interesting but I think I preffer the international names! maybe their native names could be used in paranthesis together with the English names or in faction description...

Your question may have been rhetorical, but AFAIK we have almost no record of the Medieval Alanic language. The closest approximation might be modern day Ossetic...

One inscription of Medieval Alanic language dated to the X cent. and made by Greek alphabet we have. It's Zelenchuk inscription on the tombstone.

I'd prefer you to change the name, since there is already one Native Names Project. It's suspended now, but no one said it's dead. Do you want to continue NNP, or something?

Also, could you explain whether your project is based anyhow on NNP? Do you use translations from NNP?

Fars wasn't ruled by Saljuqs, but by Salghurids. I think more suitable name for them would be "Atābakān-e Fārs"

I belive that's Arabic name. Persian name, which probably was used by Bavandids, was "Esfahbaḏ-e Esfahbaḏān" or "Malek-e Māzandarān" (that's from iranica.com).

Naming everything in native tongue is not a good idea in my opinion... I remember stuff like that in EB it just pisses me off as I don't understand the meaning of anything

There's a simple solution - to put English translation in brackets after native name or in a description.

Native names are cool, they make a mod "deeper" and its factions more distinctive.

Agreed on both posts here, in a way. Having faction names in native tongues is extremely interesting and can really give a mod a lot of pizazz and ambiance; but it doesn't quite give the perfect situation I'd like.

For instance, in EB, the Carthaginians were referred to as (something along the lines of) Kart-Hadastim. Very cool - but no one called them that, except for themselves (or at least people that spoke their same language). When I'm playing as Rome, I shouldn't be fighting "Kart-Hadastim", I should be fighting whatever the Latin term for Carthage was (Poeni-, Puni- something something, I have zero latin experience ). It would be like having a WWII game featuring Britain, the United States, Deutshland, Italia and Nippon. It's a bit off, isn't it? That's the feeling I got when I played EB.

If whoever was going about this project generated a couple lists of faction names that were based on language groups, rather than individual factions, I'd be extremely impressed. E.G. translate every faction name into Greek, Persian, Arabic, etc. etc., and then allowed these name sets to swap when players pick the faction they want to control.

Of course, this multiplies the work load immensely, and might even require multiple re-installations of different mod versions when you switch factions, but I think it would be the best way to represent native names properly.

You are right, Kippy, but only if it comes to factions' names - we can say that Latin experience related to this feature is zero.

However, used in-game faction names are only one feature of EB native names. There are more areas of the mod where you can find loads of Latin experience.

Yeah, there are limitations concerning factions naming - but we can't go beyond that, at least not yet. If it comes to me, I turn a blind eye for some annoyances which cannot be dealt with.

I have correct all names in the list and thanks all of you.

wudang_clown this is not a detailed native name project just I want that native faction names to mod to make game deeper as you say. Althought I changed name to `Native Faction Names`

Maybe when the mod will release we can also change the term such like Turkish General Turkish Family Member etc.

But now we must complete the faction names list if everyone wants this project.

Yeah, new factions aren't included in NNP yet, but it's a matter of time. Let's finish BC 3 first.
