Default Help Smoothing OBJ files in max

Can anybody give me some clarity as to how I would go about getting this obj model smoothed out? I dont know much about smoothing groups - if thats even what needs to be done.

    Any help would be great.

This is where I am at - how do I convert it and make it RTW ready - (please no speeches about to many verts I know this)

    Thanks in advance

you want to make this a unit or a building??and if it is a unit is it supposed to fly???you will need to ask the guys from LOTR:TW how to make it fly.
to make it a unit best thing is to import any cas file and delete everything except the scene root and all of the skeleton, after import your object convert to mesh add a skin modifier and weight the objects vertexes on the skeleton, add uvw maps and the texture and export.
you can find tuts for this in the workshop, tones of them.
