Cheat question

I'm not very good at cheating and all but about 15 minutes ago I came really close to throwing my computer out of the window and I was wondering if there was a cheat or something that made your army totally untouchable in battle.

I'll explain. At one point today I decided to play some Rome Total War and continue my Brutii campaign. As I clicked "End Turn" it was my enemies chance to do some damage. So he took his 2500 men, dogs and horses and attacked my army. I had around 2000 men. I knew it was gonna be a great one and it was and I was able to clear them off without taking any major casualties, it was a great great battle, very cool. Those guys were the brits. The battle took a considerable amount of time and I was happy with the results. Then boom, the Thracians decide to do battle with my town. I only had peltasts and town watch and some barb mercs in the town but I somehow managed to beat the computer thanks to some idiotic moves on his part, also I had A LOT of luck beside me. I knew there was no way I could win it again. Then I hoped I could save the game but no, another battle, another big battle. This one was the hardest, I fought 2 full stacks of Germans in the Alps but I picked a corner on top of the mountain and fought off the barbarian hordes and was about to take the win. My numbers were HEAVILY depleted but I had the last of the enemies men running away from me. I was really happy, then boom, Rome Total War has stopped working.

I don't know if a cheat like that exists as I looked through some cheating websites but I'm sure you'll know better.

There's one that you can use. Open up the console with the tilde key and type "auto_win defender" without quotation marks. Do this before each battle you're defending in and you'll win. You will take casualties however.

As an aside, you can save in between battles. I always quicksave in between during an opponents turn just in case this sort of thing happens so I don't need to replay an extra battle or two.

Indeed, you can basically save when you want, if you are o nthe campaign map. I always save before battles, just in case the game ctd.

yeah i have only found one cheat that ever works for me i dont know if im putting it in wrong the force diplomacy cheat is it force_diplomacy accept
or do i need the <>s or accept decline or off? i have no clue the only i found that will work is the money cheat add_money 40000

I'd suggest that you don't quicksave but manually save the game. I've been told that both the autosave and quicksave can result in a corrupt game.

I manually save as I've heard the same quicksave and autosave. One thing I do is that I use the "auto_win" and help the winner of the battle. So, if I get beat I auto_win attacker/defender depending on who won before the CTD. I don't consider it cheating if I use it to replay the results of how the battle played out.
