The Danube is the frontier yes. Yes, only a small part of the Crimea in Roman possession.

That's a big topic, do you have a more specific question in mind?

I have a question: The Byzantine Empire had an insidios amount of court politics. Will this be implemented in the mod (stuff like rebelling provinces and generals, civilwars, unrest)?

To varying degrees, this will be the case for all factions.

Well yeah, but the player will have options in order to try to deal with the problem. A lot of this is still being worked on.

One issue we are addressing is the relationship between religion and a sense of belonging within the empire. Despite all the internal political issues, it’s probably no coincidence that regions held onto by the Empire the longest were the regions where Orthodox Christianity was most prevalent. Partly in order to emulate this, we’ve split non-Chalcidian Christians from mainstream Orthodox. So if the Romans expand into Syria, Armenia, or Egypt where there will still be sizable Christian populations, the people are unlikely to greet them with open arms the way many Orthodox Christians in Anatolia would.

I totally agree that the split between calcedonian and non-calcedonian christians in the orient will introduce intriguing features into the political landscape of this region.

I am not so sure however, how to reflect this within the confined rules of the game mechanics. I am very eager to see what kind of solutions you will finally come up with.

So do you introduce oriental orthodoxy (non-calcedonian christians) as a new religion or by other means? The former would be pretty cool given the fact that one faction is already oriental orthodox (Lesser Armenia) plus some other oriental-orthodox factions, which could be represented as rebel factions. Possible candidates could be e.g. Kingdom of Makuria, Kingdom of Alodia or some scmaller succesors of the Axumite Empire (don't know if these southern areas will be included in your final map).

I'm working on the government system for the Empire, and I'll tell you that carefully looking after your big aristocrats will be important for the player. I'm unsure how much I can disclose though about my system!

Oriental Orthodoxy is a separate religion in DotS. In addition to the Armenia as an Oriental Orthodox faction, the Fatimids patronized Coptic Christianity to a degree. The patriarch of Alexandria was one of the highest ranking members of the Fatimid government answering only to the Vizier.

The Roman Empire in this mod will have:
100% accurate borders (expect a huge and powerfull afction).
100% accurate noble and officials ranking titles.
99% accurate population and urban center sizes (expect a heavily urbanised state in addition to "village" sizes of most european urban centers).
    100% accurate dynasties.
    99% accurate units.
    Civil wars,unrests etc...
Playing Roman Empire you must be experts in a state's administration if you don't want to see your empire colapse in to ruins.

All those will be real thanks to :
DoTS "Roman" researching team (don't look at me ) and afcourse thanks to the rest of DoTS scripting, coding and mapping teams!
TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.

Very cool. I thought the representation of regional minority religions in M2, other mods is pretty lacking. From what I've read about DotS, you guys have really went all out to flesh out a lot of detail in this very important area.

Excellent. If DotS uses a large part of your Baselia ton Romanion mod in some form that would be amazing.

Thank you. Despite me being the researcher for the Islamic factions, I find the Basileion ton Rhomaion to be quite intruiging.

DoTS was my 1st official involvement in modding research.
I was (for about a year) the main Byzantine researcher of the mod (in the old site).
I was honored by this task i must say.
Even CBUR project was at 1st an attempt to help DoTS to have access to unique byzantine units.
It was a great loss that Tangro just disapeared and never finished the roster i was rensonsible for.

But the last year many worthy and more educated than me , researchers continue that attempt (research for byzantines) for DoTS and they are all good friends of mine.

Here is something that non CBUR members see for 1st time.
This is work done and remained incomplete in DoTS's early days !
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
