I updated RTW with patches 1.3 and 1.5 so I could play online, however since then I've only been able to play already started games from the load screen, I can't start any new campaigns, when I choose my faction and start it it just takes me straight back to the single player options.

Delete the map.rwm.

As irishron has suggested - if in doubt which one is used for your game (RTW and RTW BI have their own and if you're playing a mod-foldered mod it will have it's own as well).

These files are created from other text files in your game folder so they are safe to delete. There may be a slight delay afterwards for the first time you load a save or start a new campaign as the file is being created.

Deleted the map and it still does it.

Have you edited any files?

Do you have any mods installed?

I'm not sure if this is possible, but you might need to start a new campaign in single player option and save the game, then start your online play.
