Formed May 24, 1917 the Division took part at the Battle of Catigny then Saint-Mihiel and the Argonne during the 100 Days Offensive. In WWII it landed in Morocco and fought in North Africa, then landed in Sicily and fought there and then landed at Normandy and fought in North-West Europe. Following WWII it missed Korea but was involved in Vietnam, including the Tet Offensive. During the Gulf War it participated in the land war, and later Bosnia and Kosovo. It has served in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

A division is currently an organizational and not a combat formation. The first ID has four maneuver brigade combat team. Each brigade combat team has an artillery battalion. Further, ever infantry, armor and recon company has an Artillery second lieutenant.I thought you are going to artillery??

Well if you do, you'll be stationed in Fort Riley Kansas, a mere 30 minutes from me. I'd be more than happy to treat you to a beer in Aggieville...Found out I'm most likely going to be in the Big Red One (aka 1st Infantry Division). Am excited, though now I got to watch some WWII movies haha.
Just avoid Bushwhackers...that's where the Riley rats like to stab people.
